If your item isn't ready to ship, why bother having it listed?

I recently purchased an item, 3 days later i get a notification that it's been shipped.

3 days is unacceptable to me.

Here's a very easy solution.  If the item is not ready to ship, don't list it.  Is there any reason why a seller would not want to conduct business  this way?

Am i the only one who feels this way?

When a seller sets up a listing, they have to specify a handling time, but that can range anywhere from "same day" to "30 days." If it's 1, 2, or 3 days, eBay usually doesn't show that information in the listing and they expect you to just go by the expected delivery date.

Sellers have many reasons for choosing 2- or 3-day handling, especially those who aren't full-time sellers and who have day jobs, health issues, family responsibilities, etc.

As far as I am concerned, YES

Patience - It is not the end of the world. Where is the fire?

What did it state for their handling time.

In my opinion, as long as you receive it on or before the estimate delivery date, you have no reason to be upset. How long it takes the seller to actually ship it is really none of your business.

Now, if it arrives late, then you have every right to leave a negative and state why: "Didn't ship it for 3 days, it arrived late."

Beyond that, you're being very unreasonable.

Nowadays, it can definitely hurt a seller anywhere in the online world waiting that long to ship. People want their packages yesterday. But there are some sellers that only ship once or twice a week. Did the sellers's handling time say 3 days or did they ship it out late? If it said that it's a 3 day or more handling time, then they shipped it when they said they would. But if they only have a 1 or 2 day handling listed then they were late on shipping. Of course that only means business days.

Quite a bit of conjecture on your part.

I agree with the other posters...

also...What is their rating for shipping time? If it's high it seems others understand the concept of variable handling times. Perhaps you should consider that as well.

Well, this also seems unreasonable and the opposite extreme of the OP...

Many times I will message a seller to politely inquire about shipping. You should not be vindictive just for that reason if they are polite about it.

The advantage of having a 5-day handling time (or anything longer than 3 days) is that this info is displayed at the top of the listing so buyers might be less impatient than those who aren't given a heads-up (e.g., 3-day handling).

My items are right here and ready to ship.........

I also have a life and obligations outside of eBay so I have a FIVE day handling on most of my items. Maybe because of that or in spite of it my feedback is littered with "fast shipping" comments.

While eBay doesn't always show a sellers handling time unless it's "extended" like mine they do show you a delivery estimate. If the estimate is too long for you then buy from someone else.

But it's OK, because his listings specifically state that his handling time is 5 days.

Nothing unreasonable or vindictive the price and terms are clearly spelled out in the listing. If they don't like them they can move along to someone else I'm not here to hold their hand or to have a pen pal. There are more buyers than stars in the sky and ones that can't read simple english I prefer they take their business elsewhere...

If I bought some of your candy today it says I would not get it until Saturday June 2 even with your stated 1 day or same day handling.

I use 3 day handling because I can't control when the rural mail carrier will show up at my mailbox that I can't even see from my house because it is three-quarters of a mile away. So I try to ship as quickly as possible but I can't control if I've placed it in the mailbox and the mail carrier has already been there and it won't go out until the next day. If I'm expected to drive the 12 mile round trip to town to mail then I'd have to charge a handling charge which I prefer not to do.

I guess fast shipping doesn't impress me because I remember back in the 50s and 60s waiting 6 WEEKS for something to arrive that you had ordered.

Why do you assume they "don't like it" just because they are making a simple inquiry? And hand hold a pen pal? Really? Because they asked a simple question? Wow... lol

I'm sick of those people who don't know how to find the tracking number that is automatically added for most sellers that use tracking, I don't know if it's sheer laziness or eBay isn't making this information clear enough or both but it gets annoying.
