If a buyer accepts an offer, is it "immediate payment required"?

It seems like I remember reading this somewhere, but now I can't find it. I have a buyer who needs to wait a few days to pay, but if they accept the offer I sent them, will they be required to pay immediately?

I know the good people here can tell me long before I'll ever be able to find the info.

Thanks!

The other poster is correct. I would like to add that I hope Unpaid Item is not automated in your behalf.

No, I like as little as possible to be automated by ebay, so no automated UPI here.

I think I found the thread I remembered, and it was that items WITH IPR already on the listing were NOT IPR if there is an offer accepted.

No, sorry, acceptance of a Best Offer by either party negates the Immediate Payment Required aspect.

If you change the fixed price listing to reflect the agreed upon amount, then the IPR would still be in effect, though.  This lets you keep your listing up for the serious buyer who will pay immediately and cuts down on waiting for payment to roll in.

You can message the buyer that you have reduced the price on the listing for 24 or 49 hrs, but it will be raised after that time to the pre best offer acceptance price.  This is to inspire the buyer to move on the new price on your listing before it is gone.

I wish.

They really should keep the item up until it is paid for. The buyer when making the offer could set it to allow PayPal to process it as imediate payment when the seller accepts.

I might even take a lower price if I knew the money would be there as soon as I accepted the offer. It just sucks when you take a super low bid and then wait, file a UPI, wait and then relist.....

Do what castlemagic said to do.  That is what I do.  I figure if the Best Offer is good for one, it's good for anybody.  Just lower your price on the item and tell the person who made the offer they better act fast.

I wish something would be done about this. In the past week, I've had 2 buyers who made an offer, I accepted it and the time had passed for a UIC to be filed. Then the time passed for the case to be closed. I wish there was something that could be done to cut down on these non-paying buyers. It really isn't fair to sellers and other potential buyers. It's not fair that my item sits for a week not being displayed while a non-paying buyer continues to not pay. In that time a more serious buyer could've had it and potentially at a better price for me. I think they should make it so that when you place an offer, it deducts that amount from your PayPal account and if the seller declines, it releases the funds back to your account. Sometimes these buyers have 0 feedback ratings, but sometimes it's more experienced users who should know better. If they changed their mind, they should just cancel the order. I've had a buyer cancel an order because they were unaware that placing an offer makes you purchase that item if the seller agrees to your offer.

I am more nervous about the high bid offers than anything else.

If I list it for $70 and you bid $68, why? Why didn't you just buy it? Or do you not have the funds today to buy it and want to put it on lay away? Hoping it will still be available when you get the money?

The way I understand the system, once the best offer is accepted, the item is considered to be sold and the buyer is expected to pay.  However, I believe that just like after an auction ends, the seller cannot open a UID for 48 hours and not be able to close it until 96 hours after that.  That gives the buyer a total of six days minimum to pay.  I believe the clock starts when the offer is accepted.
