Posted this on the Canadian board by mistake... I meant to post it here.
Short version, I had an auction of an item of nominal value, two buyers bid it up to the moon, the winner paid (five times what the thing was worth). Shipped. Tracking shows delivered June 30.
On July 6 buyer files INR. eBay won't close it in my favour until July 12. I uploaded the tracking to the case as I've read here that I'm supposed to do.
In the past, when I uploaded tracking (which happened before the delivery scan), when the delivery happened the case closed immediately in my favour. Why can't they close a case for an INR on July 6 on something delivered on June 30?

Might have been misdelivered

It will close in your favor but they no longer do it as quickly as they used to.
I think it was 4-5 days the last time it happened to me.

There's way more to this, but I don't want my buyer to be reading about it.
I spoke with his local post office and they did GPS co-ordinates which confirmed correct delivery, AND the mailman who's been on that route for 20 years knows him (the supervisor spoke with him, I called first thing).

Even if it was misdelivered, it's one of the few instances where ebay has the seller's back.

Terrific info, thank you.
Just for anyone reading, I did absolutely everything to make sure he did actually receive the package and it wasn't mis-delivered. At the advice of my business partner, always help the customer, even if you have reason to doubt what they tell you.

Well, that's good news. Nothing worse than a misdelivered package, except for getting a rock back on a return.

There was overwhelming evidence by his local PO that he did actually get it, but I'm glad for once eBay has our backs on something.
If I provided more info on the transaction, it would be obvious this was buyer's remorse. But that's a post for another day.

That might be what's next... when this blows over I'll share all about it I promise. I just don't like to talk about my buyers when things are happening (so some of my complaint posts come a couple of weeks later). I've seen it happen a few times that a buyer read about themselves here and things got ugly.

Hope not, but it sounds like it may be a case of buyer's remorse given the bidding war inflation.

I estimate he paid 4 or 5 times what the item was worth.

"Worth" is hard to determine. Clearly at least two people thought it was worth that much and were looking for that particular item so maybe it was worth that...you never know.

Same as @albertabrightalberta my last one, just a few weeks ago, I had to wait out the 5 or 6 days before they would close it.

I'm very anxious waiting for things... I need to busy myself with doing listings until Tuesday when this will be resolved. (I got lots of stuff ready to list recently... but not motivated to sit at the computer).

Hi @sin-n-dex
You should have no problem winning the case with eBay. The only problem you may have is if the buyer decides to request a chargeback with their credit card company. [That happened to another seller in a similar situation recently. eBay had no way to prevent the refund ... and there was a $20 additional service charge from the CC company. 😖]
