INR Case is Not Closing after uploading Delivered tracking

Over in my selling account I got an Item Not Received dispute from a buyer although the tracking shows a normal shipment direct to his place as usual. (He is a repeat customer.) Status is Delivered. I pasted in the tracking number to the dispute where they ask for it and I now have the Ebay acknowledgement saying that I did so. But its been about a day and a half now since I did that but the case is only showing that they are waiting for the buyer response. Why is that?

Here is the sequence of events -

1 - Buyer opened INR about 4 days after tracking said Delivered.

2 - I uploaded the tracking number to the dispute. Ebay says 'You added tracking details' so that all looks good.

3 - I sent a polite message to the buyer with all the usual suggestions. Also said that his PO can look up the GPS of the Delivered scan in case they left it at the wrong house by mistake.

Nothing has happened more since then. Case is still open awaiting buyer response. I was expecting it to close when I provided the tracking proof that Ebay wants for an INR.

Do I have to wait for the buyer response to time out? I did not think I had to call Ebay about this. If the buyer does respond then what?

Would it have made any difference if I had replied to the buyer 1st and THEN uploaded the tracking that shows Delivered?

If you call customer service they should close it for you right away.

Suggesting the buyer get the GPS data probably was not a good move, as IF that data shows the item was misdelivered, you the seller are responsible!  Sellers have to insure an item is delivered to the seller in the condition listed.  Misdelivery by the seller's shipping agent is the seller's responsibility and with proof of misdelivery you will lose the the INR case.

Unless you are hurting for the money, I'd advise a bit of patience with the process.  Might end up working out for you in the long run?

That information is incorrect.

Perhaps you haven't been reading the blues comments on these forums as that information IS correct, it is just not popular or accepted by a lot of sellers!

Perhaps when one reviews this thread and the comments by The Blue you will change your opinion!

I always have to call in and get it closed..... happened 3 times this year and had to call in to have the case closed all 3 times.

What usually happens (for me anyway) is that they mark it delivered at 6 or 7 pm but in reality it gets to my buyer the next morning. Something to do with running out of time but they still have to deliver their quota so play catch up next morning

That info is totally wrong. If the seller has proof of delivery then that is all that is needed to win an INR.  This seller needs to call Ebay now and get the case closed.

So, if this tracking shows it has been delivered to the verified address, how in the world is this seller suppose to find out where this package is? IF it was misdelivered. This is another way that a scammer can get a freebie if there is tinkering around with this rule.  The seller should be respectful as and the buyer to call the P.O. Or ask neighbor’s, or ask someone in the home if they picked it up. Yes, help the buyer find it, but no refund if shown delivered.

I can just imagine people sending high end items out with buyer saying P.O. Lost it is was not delivered, blah blah, and massive losses. That would be crazy and I would be done here if that’s ever happens here. You got proof it was delivered to the right address, help them if they cant find it as best you can but no no no, refunding people for this.

If the GPS scan shows it was misdelivered then the seller can file an insurance claim on the package if the package cannot be retrieved and delivered properly. So, yes, if there is proof of misdelivered then the seller can refund and collect the insurance.

I don't necessarily disagree with your comment; however, @no_zero369 was the OP on the link s/he posted in message #5 that would seem to indicate otherwise, according to a post by Trinton. His post says, essentially, the GPS tracking showing a USPS delivery to an incorrect address would be taken into consideration by eBay when adjudicating an INR dispute.

Yes, I just read the thread with trinton’s response. If the tracking shows it was misdelivered to the wrong address then the seller has to take responsibility for that and start and insurance claim. If the package has been delivered to the correct address that is an entirely different situation.
