My sales for the last 30 days are up 56.2%.
So ebay reduces my traffic by 8.9%.
Why? Because I started selling too much?
03-27-2022 06:15 PM
It happens to me the same. My impressions and page views are going downhill (currently 30% down ) everyday since winter update but sales remain the same or drop slightly and go back in 2 days. I think that Ebay doesn’t feature items regularly and sales are from the watchers you got previously when items were shown.

Sigh. The throttle argument.
I call fake news.
03-27-2022 06:44 PM
And your proof is…..?
Scientific data?
A measurable, identifiable, verified straight cause and effect line from too many sales to throttled?
You forgot to give the monkey who runs the place a banana last week?

Don't you love it when abstract sellers are telling a seller such as yourself (22110 Feedback score...) what you are doing wrong and that people don't want to buy your items?
This subject was discussed here many times before,
Ebay are trying to create sensation of "spreading the wealth among the sellers", the leaders of the company figured that rather then allowing you as seller such as yourself to grow and be the best you can be,
They rather turn off the faucet on you and let another seller of similar items get his turn selling while you and other sellers in the relevant categories, are left to wonder what went wrong.
Ebay is hoping to bait random sellers into bigger more expensive stores which will bring more fees to the venue.
it is NOT organic, it is not organic when you have no sales for days and then suddenly 5 buyers from Montana buy 4 different items within a 2 hour window.
Wait patiently, they will turn the traffic switch sooner or later.

I hope you attribute this 56.2% upturn in sales to eBay, I would be sending them a big thank you becasue as you say it is all them, not you.

There is no manual tinkering of your account. its all on the ebay algorithm. every time you do different thing within the account it triggers it. you want to trigger it daily so ebay knows your an active seller

I don't see anyone telling OP that it's their "fault", it's not, but a lot more goes into it than 'flipping a switch', and a direct correlation between impressions and conversions/sales is pretty elusive. Yes, people want certainty and the whole 'throttling' thing gives that illusion, but if it were that simple we'd all be off on our own websites getting rich because SEO/conversion would be easy. I'm just saying that trying to draw firm conclusions on this isn't productive given the constantly changing procedures and algorithms, not to mention core changes in Google which many people use as a search engine.

Sigh... Ebay is here to make money, they do not care who's items sell. The ones who have the best prices, the best pictures, and the best descriptions usually win. Conspiracies' do nothing but give people a false sense of blame for lack of sales.

@flyingmvp you get it. I get it too. Let the rest of them go on about what they believe.
Everyone here can admit, if you fall below "standard" you will not show up in search very well. They can openly admit, THAT situation, your visibility can be throttled. But somehow in any other case they can't. LOL.
I know what the work around is, but I'm not willing to pay the price. I've learned this is just a small branch of my income stream, and it's not worth more than I give now, to "grow".
Like a roller coaster, these are our sales. Lol.

Sorry but there is just not much demand for $20 postcards. Your sales should be, and always will be sporadic. You can go ahead and blame Ebay if you choose though. 😀

@usmediamass wrote:So sad that all of you think ebay is not responsible for anything.
If they did not decrease my traffic as sales increased, who did?
Who decided how many people see my listings, ebay does.
If it is not ebay's fault, then they can not take credit for anything.
I know of no eBay apologists here in the forums. Most regular posters call out eBay for poor management or faulty decision-making, when warranted.
Buyers are not sheep being led around by the nose by eBay. Buyers decide what they want to click on or buy, not eBay.
But conversely, eBay does openly admit that they can hide listings by sometimes omitting them from Search results. And while i strongly believe that eBay manipulates its search capabilities, i do not believe eBay singles out successful sellers for “special” treatment, so to speak.
But eBay will reduce an under-performing seller’s listing visibility, among other punitive actions. Therefore, unless you are Below Standard, or have multiple policy violations, then there is no reason for eBay to level such punishment on your account.

I'm going to assume when you say traffic you mean impressions and/or page views. It's possible the sales you've had in the last month are causing them to go down if you haven't been adding new inventory as the current stuff is getting sold.
Basically the stuff people want is gone now. While the stuff that's left might be less wanted or searched for. Causing you to see less "traffic."

“Basically the stuff people want is gone now. While the stuff that's left might be less wanted or searched for. Causing you to see less "traffic."”
It may be true what you said but it would mean that sales go down with impressions and views or sales are down while impressions and views are the same as before. The OP states opposite: the sales are up while views and impressions are down. If the items are less desireable why are the selling more when there is less of ebay showing item and less people looking at items?

Would you rather your views go up, & your sales go down???????

„Would you rather your views go up, & your sales go down???????”
I think you know the answer. The title of this thread is „I will never understand ebay.„
In my opinion OP wants to understand what is going on and maybe fears that due to lowering of impressions an dview the sales will follow down. I also had that going on my account and would like to know as logically I can’t find explanation.
