I want to sell something without paying a FVF fee

I wish eBay would let me list 10 items with no FVF fees.

I would be willing to pay $1 each for these 10 listings and if they DON'T sell in 30 days I would be willing to fork over another $1.

I have items that I know will sell if I price them right. . .

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all use Craigslist, I must make amends.
I'm swamped in used clothing, but nothing that trends,
So Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV?
I'd like a new flatscreen but no Shipping fee.
To mail one on eBay you must be cray-zee,
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town?
A local pickup, one that won't let me down.
Please give me a buyer who's in my hometown,
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town?

Everybody!
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all use Craigslist, I must make amends,
Worked hard all my lifetime; I'm now at loose ends,
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

Not exactly.

The early years of eBay, had no final value fees for sellers.

Insertion fees were far higher, though.

fwiw,

I've been doing this since 2005 and as far as I can remember we've always had to pay a FVF. Earlier than that I wouldn't know.

1997 here.

And no, we didn't have a final value fee.

Insertion fees were like ... 35 cents for items under $10.00 and for 10-25 I think it was 50 cents?

Maybe a dollar?

So there was a lot of 9.99 listings, so sellers would save on insertion fees for ten dollar items.

Items over $100.00 were a full $5.00, which got expensive quick.

And Each picture in your listing was another 50 cents... (so we learned how to insert them into our descriptions with html code for free)

Bold Face on the Title was .. another 35 cents? .. and it went on and on from there.

Anyone else remember?

Thanks,

Lynn

Oh, yeah! That's right. Then later on, they charged one flat fee for 1-6 photos, and a higher fee if posting 7-12. You learned to get really creative in how to fully show the item in 6 images or less, and to this day, I have this mental block that stops me from going to a photo 7 without a good reason... Smiley Very Happy
