I thought 'blocking' a buyer included them not being able to email me?

I thought that 'blocking' a buyer meant that they could no longer bid/buy my items, AND not be able to email me.
I recently blocked someone who is being abusive, sending almost daily emails, begging me to sell them an item that might violate certain laws in his country(which I told him this). I removed the item from my store, and he's still begging me to relist it, so he can buy it.
I'm still getting emails after I put the block in place. Is there something else I need to do?
Thanks!

There is a separate checkbox to select to block a user on your BBL from emailing you, scroll down to the bottom to find this option:

Along with the info given above, know that the user can still contact you through the previous listing's thread, if you were contacted that way initially. Moving forward, simply ignore what the user is sending now. Good luck and good golly.

If a member has been involved in a transaction with you, he can still communicate with you.

However, you don't have to deal with him.

When you recognize his ID, delete the email, delete the Message.

Others have already provided some things that should work from the eBay perspective. You can also put a filter in your email to automatically delete any email from this individual.

Ditto that. There is no rule that says you actually have to READ the note. And DO NOT respond ever again. That simply gives them acknowledgement. Treat it like any other SPAM or junk mail.

@tkmops

You can block them from bidding, buying and communicating.

However, if you have "recently" communicated with this individual and/or entered into an offer or transaction, e-Bay does not block them from you for a period of time.  It is a loophole to the whole BBL communication realm.

We sent out random offers to watchers - one replied to us, we indicated we were not interested and we did BBL.   They are still sending us random emails over 30 days later.  As others have suggested - delete the emails, etc.

Ignoring someone sometimes increases the contact intensity.  Just continue to hit "delete" and ignore.

I think that ability to continue contact based on a prior transaction or previous messaging expires after some period of time (I think 30 days, but can't swear to that.). The no-messaging block takes effect after that.

I don't know if the block extends to the "Contact member" link on your feedback page as well. Hopefully it does.

Just for yucks, let's test that. I have put you (@femmefan1946) on my BBL (Just as a test! I'm sure you're a nice person!), and have the block-messages option set as well.

  1. Can you try messaging me from my feedback page on eBay.com and see what happens?
  2. Are you able to find a way to contact me in any of my listings now? According to eBay, "Buyer won't see the "Contact Seller" button on your Questions and Answers page."

I've checked my store settings, I already have that setting checked. I think, maybe he kept my prior emails to him, and is responded to those? And, I also have that I don't ship to his country, which has been in place for many years.

Thanks for all the fast responses. Yep, I don't respond to his emails, I don't even read them anymore, just delete them. Even after I told him my lawyer has advised me not to sell my item outside the US, he still is begging...

The explicit version is... a little more explicit than I remembered.

Sorry.
