I sold something but received a "waiting for payment"

I'm relatively new to selling on the ebay platform. How can you sell something without receiving payment. This was a "buy now" item. when you click "buy" doesn't that automatically authorize payment? How should I handle this? I want to complete the sale but I don't want this to be floating indefinitely. PLEASE HELP, THANKS!

No, it doesn't. It is still awaiting payment. Don't ship until you receive confirmation of payment and can verify that you've received the funds in your account.

If the person does not pay within a full two days, you can file an unpaid item dispute (UID). Here's a good eBay help page that explains it in more detail"

thanks, I don't understand how ebay can say something sold but didn't receive payment. It seems like the buyer just reserved it LOL

It just occurred to me that I should have asked whether your item listing was "fixed price" or an auction?

If you want they buer to have to pay right away with a buy it now listing, you have to check the little box that says: Require immediate payment with Buy It Now. It's under the Selling Detail/Payment Options.

the buyer was watching, so I sent a revised offer. Maybe thats why this is happening.

Yes you can't require immediate payment on offers.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

So, it wasn't a "Buy It Now" transaction? You sent the buyer an offer? And the buyer accepted it?

We kinda need to know what actually happened in order to help you out.

That is *exactly* why this is happening. Once you start haggling with a buyer, immediate payment fly out the window.
