I see that the crazy lamp lady, list all her stuff at 4.99 in auctions. She always has great bidders. How is that possible? I'm afraid people would wait till last minute and bid on my stuff for that small amount . Then I would be in the hole.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques wrote:As others have said, this is the power of social media. (which is one reason ebay keeps recommending that sellers use social media). She has a YouTube channel with over 200,000 subscribers, she has one or two Facebook Groups (not just her own FB page), and possibly some other social media outlets. It is also the power of video, which is one reason ebay recommends creating an About Store video.
All of this is, of course, extra work, but it pays off both in terms of adding revenue streams and in terms of increasing overall ebay sales, sales velocity, and probably ASP. She doesn't live all that far from me, and I know one of the antique malls not too far from me has had her (and a couple other You Tube "celebrities") at their shop for meet and greets.
Obviously, doing what she does is not for everyone. But it can certainly be made to work, as she and others prove every day.
@my-cottage-books-and-antiques She lives in our area and I met her once at a live Auction ... my wife likes watching her YouTube videos ...

The videos are fun and she seems a very pleasant and outgoing young woman.
@femmefan1946 She is very polite and professional yet very down to earth in person ...

Have you ever met her? There certainly seems to be alot of nice goodwill stores in that area that she goes to. I find myself jealous of what Pennsylvania has to offer.

I met her once @silverstatetreasureboxes at a local live Auction and saw her at others. And yes, there are many thrift stores and Goodwill's around here ... at times its a feeding frenzy when Goodwill brings new stuff out (I don't shop at them but my wife does).
One thing I HAVE done in the past at some of the Thrift Stores is do their "Silent Auctions". They display certain high value, unique and rare items in secure areas and have a book where you can place your bids. Most of them let you purchase the item if your bid remains the highest after 7 days. You can call in and check on your bid as well as raise it over the phone at most places.

Oh how fun! Pennsylvania has all the fun, love that state myself, sure beats living in the desert sometimes. CLL has a hoarder house series on her channel that was absolutely a joy to watch. The house was bought in NJ by a friend and ebayer and it was loaded with mid century treasures. This is a must watch for pickers!

LOL! @silverstatetreasureboxes early last year I won some items at an online auction here in PA and when I went to pick up the Auctioneer gave me a tour of the house ... or should I say let me go in as far as possible ... it was a hoarder's house and literally every room was packed full ... there was a narrow pathway in the kitchen and down the hallway where the owner moved back and forth and that was about it ...
Unreal to be honest ... until you actually see something like that for up close and personal its hard to imagine ...

I had never heard of crazy lamp lady until today.... Now I have to subscribe to her yt channel and watch her ebay site! I, too, love to snoop around antique malls, goodwill, and consignment shops - so I think she would be a fun person to hang with!

@silverstatetreasureboxes I saw her once a few years ago while GoodWill shopping---but didn't want to bother her, she obviously was on the hunt, and I know, when I'm on the hunt, I'd rather stay focused than chat LOL

Most of the You Tubers show what they sell and mail out everyday and I would say about 33%-50% of the sales come from people who watch their videos. Then on top of that, they all sell "Merch" that you can buy. Most T-shirts run between $25-$29 each. I don't get it, but whatever.

And she also adds a high shipping rate to cushion herself. You can’t do that and offer free shipping as well.
