I recently asked if I could have 2 listings of the same item and was told no.

I started a post recently asking if I can list the same item if I change the title or picture or something and was told by everyone, no I can't.

Now the same people, rockstars, superstars, guides and many others tell me I can open more then one account but they never let me know I can just make a second account and list the same item there.

Or am I wrong about that? Can I list the same item, 1 in my existing account, and 1 in my new account?

No.

Go back to the other thread and read the linked page about the policy.

I'm going to make this easy for you:

What is the policy?

We don't allow more than one fixed price listing of an identical item at the same time from the same seller. This includes:

  • Listing an identical item in different categories or listing an identical item using different usernames

Do you want fixed price or auctons?

If you do a fixed price listing you can make the quantity two if they are truly identical.  If they are identical and you want to run auctions then label them as (Lot 1) and (Lot2) after the title description in separate auctions.   I prefer to list quantities as a fixed price sale when I have multiples of the same exact item rather than make multiple auctions.  If I get more later I can easily adjust the quantity up on my existing fixed price listing.

You can do whatever you want until you get caught.

That is not really an accurate reflection of that thread. I told you in that thread that there were certain circumstances where you can do it, and you were given a link that explained those circumstances:

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/duplicate-listings-policy?id=4255

I can just make a second account and list the same item there

You cannot use a second account to circumvent restrictions on your first account. First, the Duplicate Listing policy refers to a seller, not an account and says you cannot:

"Listing an identical item in different categories or listing an identical item using different usernames".

And second, the Multiple Account policy clearly states that you cannot use another account to circumvent restrictions:

"Registering new accounts to avoid buying and selling restrictions or limits, or other policy consequences, is not allowed on eBay."

Yes and no. It depends. If it is the exact same identical item then the answer is no.

But if you have say 2 or 3 of the same items but each is significantly different from one another in some form or fashion, i.e. price, condition, etc., then yes you are allowed to list all 2 or 3 same items at the same time.

This is quite common in categories such as comic books and coins were the comic books have been graded and their conditions are different from one another and therefore each of their prices are different. This is acceptable.

See the screen shot that I have provided below offering 2 copies of Fantastic Four Issue #1. The 2 comic books are the same issue and have been listed by the same seller.

But each copy has a different grade of condition, and therefore the  prices of each copy is "significantly different"

Here is eBay's whole Duplicate listings policy:

We don't allow more than one fixed price listing of an identical item at the same time from the same seller. This includes:

o Listing an identical item in different categories or listing an identical item using different usernames
o Listings that aren't significantly different, such as adding an inconsequential bonus item with the same identical item in two listings

You told me before.... Sorry if I didn't understand everything that you told me. I'm not the sharpest tack in the box, so thanks for pointing that out to me.

I did read it. I just didn't see that part of it. Sorry to bother you.

That's all I needed was a simple yes or no. Thanks. You've helped me before and treated me with respect. I appreciate that.

You can also use "variation" to put some slightly different things in the same listing saving listing fees.

I did read it, I just didn't understand that part. Is this what I can expect now, higher up members following me around to all my posts to rub it in my face?

I'm sorry but I believe you are being much too sensitive. You've now posted that you are made fun of tonight on two different threads and I can't see why you are so offended. You really should toughen up a bit more if you choose to participate on public forums. No one here knows you, no one is out to get you. No one is purposely picking on you. People are posting replies, some a tad sarcastically perhaps, but a little levity is always necessary.

We all like that you are here @max-list and want you to post questions and make comments along with us. Just try to toughen up that skin a bit more and enjoy yourself. It's all meant to be good. Best of luck to you....

Hi everyone,

Since this thread has gotten a bit off-topic, please bring the discussion back to subject established in the original post.

Thank you.

That comes across a bit like scolding to me 🙂
