this has been bugging me for some time
is tracking required or not.the fall seller update 2018 mentioned below sure seems to require it
I have left out the link but if you read it ..it has a hot link to the MBG
I guess I woud like to know if its actually been incorcorporated into the MBG
I nosed arounf all over the MBG and did not see tracking really mentioned
if you enter tracking into the ebay " help box" it mentions having 3 days to respond to a claim of item INR
when I look for information/help on ebay how can I be assured its current when its a statement you can read
below is the fall 2018 update........has it ever been used?.........has it been done away with?
Upload tracking to prevent "item not received" claims
Starting September 10, 2018, you will be required to upload tracking in the structured data field before the estimated delivery date has passed in order to appeal an "item not received" claim. eBay will not protect you from a claim if you send the tracking number to the buyer via email.
Without tracking information, eBay can't protect you because we won't be able to confirm your item was delivered. Tracking also benefits buyers by enabling them to track the status of their deliveries. We will also update the eBay Money Back Guarantee policy with the new guidelines.

I thought they did update the MBG relative to tracking, but searched just now and could not find it specifically - at least not where I thought it used to be. So much has moved/changed on this site in the past 60 days.
For an INR, you have to have uploaded the tracking prior to the claim filing, regardless of whether or not it applies is my understanding. Can't find exactly where it says that also.
Hopefully, someone will be along soon with the exact links.

As far as I know, tracking is not mandatory but without it, there isn't any protection from item not received claims. Hasn't it always been that way?

the MBG is sort of all over the place on ebay.I have seen outdated info and am curious how can you tell if a rule is old or not.current version from say MBG 2021.instead of 2020
do you think that ebay removes outdated info or is it left up to make people wonder whats the real deal?

I think the problem is that you can google and it pulls from prior editions, etc. The best is always search on the site itself.
I bookmark a lot of things and thought I had the latest and greatest version of the MBG saved - could not locate it quickly, so my apologies for that. The only reason I know the INR drill is that I have had a couple lately and had to work to prevail on them. Ittybitnot was really helpful and a couple of others too.

I always look around on ebay for the info but I think it stale sometimes........like left over code that was never deleted
maybe they shoud label things with dates so a looker can see if they are still relevant
I am unsure if ebays gets rid of old info on the site or if its much of a priority

Upload tracking to prevent "item not received" claims FAQs
Why is eBay making this change?
eBay can protect you from buyers' "item not received" claims when you provide tracking information because we will be able to confirm your item was delivered. Tracking also benefits buyers by enabling them to track the status of their deliveries.
If I don’t upload a tracking number to your site prior to the claim being opened, what will happen if an "item not received" claim is opened?
You will be given time to reach out to your buyer to try to resolve their concern. However, if you’re unable to resolve the buyer's concern on your own, and the buyer continues to insist they do not have the item, the claim will be closed against you.
Can I provide a tracking number through member-to-member messages and still be protected from losing an "item not received" claim?
No. We will no longer accept tracking numbers sent through member-to-member messaging. The tracking number must be uploaded to the site. Please see our help page on tracking items you've sold for more information about uploading tracking.
If I have tracking that proves an item was delivered even though there's an "item not received" claim, will you close the claim against me?
No. We have not changed how an "item not received" claim will be handled with valid tracking uploaded that proves
