I have been able to successfully create several variated listings now but this is the first time I have attempted to do combined shipping.
I went and changed my shipping preferences to allow it, chose the weight option and made sure I removed the “require immediate payment” from the listing.
however, my first buyer is saying “combined shipping doesn’t work”
I posted a link to this listing but it got removed for spam purposes. If anyone has the time to look at the listing for me I would be most appreciative. I am not doing this to sell these items, I don’t know how to advise the buyer other than what Ithought it looked like (because EBAY doesn’t let me put items into my own cart) but I thought it would say…in the cart…..”request combined shipping”
Since I cannot link the listing, it is DARICE MESH PLASTIC CANVAS If anyone can actually look at that listing and attempt to do a combined shipping to let me know if the feature works and they buyer has done it incorrectly, i would so appreciate the help.
maybe someone will report this, too, as spam but I legitimately need advice. Thanks

On this forum you can post the URL link to the item OR give us the eBay Item number off the listing for review. In general terms Buyers do not select Combined shipping, that is all determined by the Seller's settings. I have mine set to ADD all shipping costs on Buy it now items with Immediate payment required and then I refund the shipping overage.
Since you said you turned Immediate payment required OFF on your listing what the Buyer CAN do is request an update invoice from you. You can then adjust the shipping cost based on the final weight and dimensions of the package and send the invoice to them for payment through eBay.
I assume you setup your combined shipping on this page in your account (we have NO access to accounts just so you know): Shipping Preferences

When my husband went in, (after I first listed the item to see if my preferences worked) it showed a question mark in a bubble on the upper right hand side of his cart, with the phrase “request combined shipping”
I’ve never generated an invoice but I assume this is achieved through the cart from the buyers side?
I’d love to just have them pay for it all and I would refund the shipping but, if (in this buyers example) they purchase 20 sheets, that is 80.00 they’d pay in shipping at 4.00 ea sheet.
226668332149 That is the listing number. Everytime I try to insert a link, it gets marked as spam so maybe that will help.

@mirror-in-the-attic eBay's system doesn't allow combined shipping invoices when the items already have a discount, such as volume pricing or offers.
I recommend using a Flat Rate combined shipping rule so that the shipping is automatically charged
See this post I made awhile back that explains combined shipping rules>
Let me know if you have any questions.

My sincere thanks for the item number and info ... in addition to what I previously posted which only applies to certain situations, please see what @comics-scifi-collectibles has provided as it relates to Volume pricing or Discounted items.

I see. Well, I just reduced the price of each sheet and removed the volume discounts so hopefully this will now allow someone to buy volume and combine shipping.
I don’t get why they can’t do both (EBAY) but if the can’t then hopefully by removing said discounts, it will now work.
Thanks for your help

The buyer just used combined shipping option. For me, in the item page, it shows nothing because she hasn’t paid yet. For her it says she owes 47 in shipping which is dramatically wrong. I can’t see where the line items are charged as she has not paid. I’d like to ge able to speak to someone at EBAY but all I am getting is the runaround from the bot
What can I do?

This is the shipping parameters I entered for 1 sheet at about 4.00 in shipping. (3 oz total for 1 sheet plus minimum GA shipping)
She purchased 24 sheets and (when I put them on the scale) they weigh 2 lbs 13ozs
Each sheet weights actually 1.9 oz but I put 3 oz to include the weight of the shipping envelope and the price of the envelope to be safe.
So, what I guess they did is make the package weight over 4lbs.
If I put in 2 oz per sheet, I guess that would work and omit any handing charge. I put a .15 handling charge and maybe it charged that per sale.

Those changes may apply to future purchases but not to a transaction that is already in progress. You might suggest to the Buyer that they message you asking to cancel and then you can do that without getting a strike on your account by using the reason "Buyer requested ...".
Then they can try the purchase again with the new settings.

Thank you for that link. The rep told me the buyer will not realized the combined shipping price until she goes to pay for the item. She has to select all the items, choose combine shipping discount, and then it will calcite her price. I am hoping this works for her.

Awesome and thank you for your patience while we try to work with you on this. On this forum we do not have access to any accounts so at times we have to make intuitive leaps on more complicated features on eBay.

And the saga continues. The buyer follows the reps instructions and it still did not combine the shipping. I took down the listing, created one for the sheets she wanted and she purchased it that way. I cancelled the orders citing problem with address because there is no reason tht explains this and she was agreeable to that.
It is a shame but I don’t think I will do any listings like that again for this reason. It is not a good experience for the buyer and makes me look like an idiot.

I have a lot of variation listings. Most offer volume buying discounts. I do stated shipping on them and then an amount for additional items purchased. This method allows the buyer to get both the volume pricing discount and the combined shipping discount but only on one listing at a time. It doesn't work when you cross listings. IDK if this helps, just thought I'd throw it out there.
