I need help! First time Ebay seller.

Good morning!

I have had a hilarious first month and a half with selling on Ebay.  I have "sold" the same item 3 times and all three times, the buyer doesn't pay.  I got through the process all three times of opening an unpaid items case, wait 4 days or more, and relist.

Last night, I receive a notification that I have been PAID by the 3rd buyer.   I have already relisted the item on Monday, and it closes next Monday.  What do I do?  There is no HELP category for this problem on Ebay's support pages.

So basically, I'm in the middle of a sale right now, but then out of nowhere, I got paid for the item by the previous buyer, which I also did not know he/she could do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you.

Were the unpaid item cases actually CLOSED?

You wait the 4 days to relist but did you close these unpaid cases after the 96 hours/ 4 days?
You can't just file & wait 4 days and relist, each case has to be closed. You get your FVF back then relist.
If you didn't close the case and your buyer paid you need to cancel bids on the item and send it out to the paying buyer.

If you closed the case and received your FVF and they somehow paid then you need to call ebay & find out how it happened

2 of the 3 cases had been closed, and  I am now realizing I messed up and relisted the item.  He paid for the item 17 days after it was sold.

I also have 20 bids for the item on it's current listing.  What should I do?

You need to confirm in your paypal account that you have been paid by buyer, then cancel your current bids an auction and mail out to your paying buyer if in fact you have been paid.

You sold it, you have to ship and cancel the auction since the third case didn't close. And yes, verify that you have been paid in paypal and that paypal says "ok to ship".

Verify payment in Paypal as legit, that item is ok to ship.  Would be a good idea to verify an address match between ebay and Paypal.  IF they don't match, might be a red flag, in addition to the 17 days it took to pay.  If they don't match, you can cancel the sale to that buyer, and refund, reason being address issue.  Then let your item stay active.

If everything looks good with the Paypal payment, best to ship your item to that buyer.  You'll need to cancel bids that you have now, and end your listing.

How to end a listing early

To end a listing early and cancel all bids or sell to the high bidder:
Go to My eBay > Selling and find the item.
From the More actions drop-down menu, select End My Listing Early.
If there are bids on your item, choose how you want to end your listing.
If there are 12 or more hours before the end of the listing, select Cancel bids and end listing early or Sell item to high bidder.
If there are fewer than 12 hours before the end of the listing, your only option is Sell item to high bidder.
Note: If your item has no bids, you can skip this step
Select the reason you're ending your listing early and click End My Listing.

@bense328, in the future, to avoid the problem with unpaid bidders you might want to consider listing your items as "Fixed Price" with  "Buy It Now" and requiring "Immediate Payment" via PayPal.

That way, if someone comes along who wants your item, they immediately buy it for the price you're asking and in order to receive it they have to pay immediately.  IOW, no more having to dink and chase people around.

Just keep in mind when you post your item, list it at a competitive price that you will be happy with receiving as the price is just that: "Fixed" -- and *not* an auction where other bidders can drive the price up.

HTH
