I asked this question already, but I'm opening a new discussion. I have a $100 gift card that was given to me as a Barney's Promo. It came with a card saying " Please enjoy this Barney's New York Gift Card". It expires 12/24, and says at the bottom "promotional use". I have not exposed the number on the back.
I would like to sell it, but before I do I wanted to confirm there was actually $100 on it. I called Barneys, and they obviously can't confirm that unless I expose the number. If I scratch the back to expose the card number, does that void the card? I know the risk already, but feel like I have more protection if I have the card number. I will send it with signature required. Then could confirm the card was used after the card was delivered. I don't want to ask Barney's this question, because I didn't want to tell them I'm trying to sell the gift card they send me.

I really do not want to see you lose your money, so please either sell it to a giftcard buying company or as I had suggested before buy some items from barney's, scatching the number area does not void the card that's the number you have to type in to use the card at barney's.

And you will get the same answers this time around also.
All a scammer has to do is use the card, then claim it came empty, and the numbers were exposed.
Ebay will give them a refund, and you will be out the card and the payment.
It was suggested you use the card to buy from Barneys, then sell the items on ebay.
That is the only real way to have any protection, cards are scam bait.

You can do anything you want, OP. It sounds like you are hoping someone will say it is OK .But nothing you have just posted alters the scenario.
The advice we all gave you last time still stands that gift cards are scam bait.

We had a similar post where someone had the card number to a restaurant.
Buyer claimed no money on it.
Seller called to confirm that card was used after she sent it.
You do not need the card just the number to use it, so how could you prove it was not you who used it after you send it?

There's one other Barney's gift card listed. Then I looked at the next gift card. It's a $100 card from Vitoria's secret that shows 29 bids and sold for $100.... LOL
That seller has sold a number of cards and no neg feed back. You might contact that seller and ask for tips.

(I'm wondering why you're opening a new discussion for the same question...?)
Exposing the PIN number isn't going to void the card, since obviously no one could have used it yet. The card is void if the balance is used up, not before.
Signature Confirmation is not needed for sales of less than $750; Delivery Confirmation achieves the same thing for you, which is to show what day it was delivered. However, the buyer can still claim any old grievance here, including claiming that the card had no balance on it when received. Your best bet is to either sell it locally for cash, or buy some desirable items with the card and then sell those. (I assume that if there is no Barney's near you, you can still use it to order from them on-line.)

Barneys gift cards are all invalid.
You can no longer use any BNY Gift Cards. Sorry...
P.S. I work at Barneys..

The reason they're invalid is due to Barneys Bankrupt.
Over 40 million dollars in gift cards were zero'd out.
