It’s not all Doom and Gloom. I worked really hard on my listings during October and just finished up my best month of the year. (Not as good as last October, but 80%). I used the “end listing/sell similar” trick. I took bunches of new photos. I dropped prices. I ran sales. I promoted everything at 5%. I tried to list at least 3 new items every day. Stayed at or above 400 listings.
I know probably many of you do this stuff all the time. I just wanted to share that sometimes the magic works and you get sales. I’m happy today!

That is awesome...so nice to read the opposite of the usual..."Why don't I have any sales?" You did exactly what you should of done to get those sales...hard work. Congrats!
I also had a good month...just not on Ebay. lol
Enjoy the rewards!
Have a great day!

Its good to hear some thing different for a change. You put the work, and you get rewarded. I need to follow on your foot steps.
Thanks for sharing, and I hope that your sales continue.

Looking at your completed listings looks like you have some nice inventory with a good conversion rate. Promoting at 5% on top of the fvf percentages plus "running sales" that's definitely the guidance sellers get from eBay these days on how to combat slow sales. Would you care to disclose your cost of goods sold ? and perhaps a valuation of your time? It would be nice to see an example of someone actually making a decent profit.

I haven't double checked my records but I think October is possibly also a record month for me as well. I tried to consistently post $400-$500 worth of stuff every single day and it has really paid off with sales almost exactly the same as the amount of stuff I was putting into my store.

My selling costs run between 38 and 40%. Lots of my items are heavy, so lots of shipping charges. I just calculated October and my Cost of Goods Sold was 22% of my Total Item Sales. (Not including shipping and tax) My rough calculations are if I sell $1000 I keep about $ 650 after figuring in shipping supplies.
As far as what my time is worth, that’s another story. I’m retired and do this gig as much for entertainment and socialization as for money. I spend about 25 hours a week working on ebay, plus another 5 hours or so shopping for stuff.
I love what I do, so it never feels like work, so Im not sure how to value it. If it felt like work I probably wouldn’t do it. It would be a struggle to survive just on my ebay earnings, but it certainly helps out, and allows me to continue my habit of spending February and March in San Blas, Mexico. Thanks for asking, I enjoy talking about it.

Sticking with it through the ups and downs pays off. That’s amazing if you're selling $400-$500 a day? Did I read that right?

Well you sure did hun! Hope you didn't get rid of all your Spode. Had an Aunt from England who went to the factory there and bought massive amounts of it for everyone. Still love it after all these years.
Good job!
