I discovered a question when updating my listings to Ground Advantage.

On all of my multiple quantity listings,  when the quantity drops to "1" the "each additional" option goes away on shipping section on the listing page.

When I get more in stock and raise the quantity, the "each additional" option will return.

Does anybody know, when it does return if it will remember my old "each additional" shipping charge -or- will it be blank -or- will it default to something, if so what will it default to?

I think this defaults to be blank. I have a few items I changed the quantity on, forgot to add this shipping info and it defaulted to shipping all quantity for the one shipping charge (as opposed to multiplying it).

I'm using listing software, so the option always shows up, it just does nothing if I try to fill it in. But with experience of changing quantity and shipping not changing suggests you need to be sure to fill this in when you add your quantity later on.

So if it defaults to "blank" and somebody buys more than one item, what will they be charged for that additional item?

"Each additional" means each addition from THAT listing, if there is only 1 available it's impossible for a buyer to purchase more than 1 from that listing.

I think you might have misunderstood my question.

When "each additional" goes away because you only have 1 left.

 A week later you add more items.

The "each additional" comes back.

When it comes back, will it remember what your "each additional" used to be?

Will it be blank or "0"?

Does it default to whatever your shipping is for 1 item?

Does it default to something else?

I've found it's hit or miss.

Sometimes when you add qty the each additional reverts to what you had for each additional before the qty dropped, but sometimes it defaults to blank.

This is especially true if you use the 'pencil' option on the Hub to add qty to a listing which has dropped to 1 (which I always edit the actual listing in these cases now. Got burned one too many times).

I've always thought the LOGICAL default would be the same shipping cost as the first item, not a blank default, but then that would mean the seller wouldn't lose $$.

When it happened to me (that I added quantity), if shipping on one item was $5, then it was still $5 in shipping when they bought more than one item. That's two items in one listing, not two different listings.

If you add quantity, you need to update how much "per extra item" in the shipping section.

That we can't answer... I know on my listings when I put quantity it did not add anything for "each additional", but I might not have filled that in, in the first place.

I'd say this is a case of try it and see, then you'll know for next time.

In my limited experience (because I usually only have 1 available at a time) is that when you increase the quantity it reverts to whatever setting you originally had.

Slightly related, because I usually only list a quantity of 1 (Out Of Stock option enabled) eBay is always adding the LAST ONE tag. On the one hand it might encourage buyers to purchase, on the other hand buyers begin to understand that the "last one" tag is bogus.

You might wonder why I only list one at a time,  it's because I keep my active inventory close at hand where I have limited space with my overstock stored elsewhere that is not instantly accessible. Unlike some of the stuff you sell my buyers very rarely want more than 1. If they do want more it's likely 10 or 20 (resellers) and I don't have the space to keep that much instantly available.
