I can't find the "Mobile Friendly Checker" at new listing tool?

@aqeeqsouq

The mobile friendly checker can only be found on the discontinued Business Lister.  The only reason it existed is because sellers were embedding images and fancy HTML into the description. The new Unified Lister discourages any sort of HTML customization, like embedded photos and complex layouts.

eBay had two tools associated with the mobile friendly checker.

  1. Add a stylesheet to make images shrink to fit the screen (this could actually help).
** If you are not adding photos to your description, you don't need the first tool.
  2. Add meta code to inform the device that the description layout would reflow to fit a mobile screen, and to instruct the browser to not "shrink" the content (this was a bad choice if the content was not able to reflow, since it could then require panning sideways).
** If you are not adding complex HTML structure, you don't need the second tool.

To make a "mostly" plain text listing reflow and fit into the description box on a phone device:

  • Avoid long rows of underscores, asterisks, or spaces; whereas, long rows of hyphens will line-break correctly on narrow devices and are okay.
  • Avoid extra large fonts, as these may fit only one or two words per line and are impossible to read.  Use normal sized fonts. Visitors can adjust their own pages to suite their vision needs.

I do have some tools to test for mobile friendliness, but only those using old templates are in need of such tools.

In your case, you'll find that the long rows of asterisks are the culprit.

Did you know that there is an HTML command that will draw a line across the page?

It is <hr>

and it can be displayed as a partial line like this <center><hr width=60%></center>

This type of line/separator will work just fine on mobile devices.

I can't find the "Mobile Friendly Checker" at new listing tool?

I think they did away with that a couple years ago.

It's no longer needed.

Have a great day.

All four of these tools have detailed instructions on how to use them but you need to
scroll down to see them.

The ones that want you to enter your eBay user ID in one box and then select the country
from a drop down menu in the other box doesn't have you country listed so I used US and
it worked fine.

Bulk scan all your listings for Mobile Size.
Bulk scan all your listings for a color-coded list of which listings will fit on mobile devices.
The scan will produce only "ballpark" results due to running and measuring the descriptions
within your browser. But even so, the results can be used to locate and address the worst
offenders first.

MobileSizeChecker
https://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/MobileSizeChecker.htm

Bulk read the Summary text from all your eBay listings.
eBay shares a condensed item description with other shopping networks. If you don't tell
eBay which text to use, their filters will try to make that determination without your help.
This tool will allow you to review all listings in one place to determine if you should be using
eBay's Mobile Summary tags for a better or more concise summary.

MobileSummaryReader
https://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/MobileSummaryReader.htm

Edit description or template text to add a mobile summary.
If eBay is not selecting the best summary from your item description, use this tool to mark
off the code or text that you would like eBay to display. This tool can be used in another
manner to strip excess HTML code from your description, while still retaining a little bit of
formatting.

MobileSummaryEditor
https://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/MobileSummaryEditor.htm

Need help creating your Mobile Summary?
This small browser tool will measure your text and help you wrap eBay's mobile summary
tags around your text. The summary can be hidden or can be displayed with a border.
The lightweight browser tool can be moved to your desktop for offline use when creating
listings. The resulting summary code must be added to the HTML view of your description.
