I am confused, are all items from Cuba prohibited from being sold on Ebay?

I have read the rules on prohibited items and of course, among those is items from Cuba. I have also read the government rules on embargoed items from Cuba and if I read it correctly, souvenirs are allowed.  I have a group of three compacts that I wanted to list and one of the compacts is a souvenir from Cuba. The top of the compact case is marked "Souvenir from Cuba".  Obviously, I don't want to list a restricted piece.  Would the compact not be allowed to be sold on Ebay?

Thank you for reading and guidance.

The government rules don't overrule an Ebay rule.  It's Ebay site and they have the right to say what is and isn't going to get posted on their site.  I know that can be a hardship for some sellers at times.  I hope you find a way to work with the policies of the site.  Good Luck!

I had a south of the border souvenir that had the word Cuba on it and I had the word in my listing so Ebay pulled it. I took the word out of my listing and relisted with no problem, it sold.

Before I get jumped on, the item was made in Mexico so it was ok to sell it.

@ageless_fashion

I would think embargoed goods are at the top of the list where eBay pays big attention, as there may be big consequences for allowing them to be sold on this site.  I would also think eBay has to follow those rules & if eBay states you can't sell them...don't.

Happy Selling

     As mam98031 stated it's eBay's site, their rules and policies. Simple solution is to sell it on another venue. I have a LOT of things that I cannot list on eBay because of their policies that I list and sell on other sites. In 2023 the UN tried to pass a resolution to end the embargo but it failed. It was approved by 187 countries the only 2 voting against the resolution were the US and Israel, go figure.

     Embargo's generally work in the short term but ecommerce has provided a venue to make those embargos pretty much irrelevant. There are a number of countries, China probably leading the group, that have established freight forwarding companies and businesses to help the Russian's circumvent the current embargos. Cuba I would suspect does the same thing as does any other country dealing with embargo's. This is nothing new google how the US got the titanium out of Russia to build the SR-71.

Why would anyone "jump" on you?  You said it was made in Mexico, so it likely didn't have anything to do with the issue the OP is currently facing.  I hope it was a GOOD sale for you.  😍

Thanks everyone for confirming what I suspected and why I hesitated to list it.  I am not interested in getting in trouble with Ebay and will not include it with the other pieces.

Likely a good plan.
