I Appreciate the eBay Fee Deferral program. It certainly helps during these hard times. But I'm afraid that putting off March's fees and adding them to April and May (50% each month), might make a bad situation worse. Most sellers are feeling the majority of the pain in March, April and likely May (based on current statistical projections, the earliest that the economy will have even a semblance of normalcy is June). Therefore, this deferral will load one month's payments into two likely very painful months. eBay may want to consider taking March, April and May fees and spreading them out over the last six months of the year starting in June. Otherwise, many of eBay's best sellers may not make it through these hard months.
Just a thought.

It will indeed make it hard for the next two months paying extra on invoices for many who decide to defer. For this reason I declined the program. I continue to make the one time payment before my daily bills hit $50. Then everything left is mine. Managed payments will deduct these fees automatically once everyone is in that. But I suggest that putting off paying fees till a later date is a bad idea. They could probably do 25% over 4 months repaying but I don't see that as being any easier for many. Paying one time payments every couple of days is a better way to keep on top of fees and remembering the due date on the monthly store fee. The 17th for me so I make sure I have money to cover that in the days before it is due.

Every time I see posts like this it makes me wonder how sellers are managing their accounting and whether or not they know what their actual profit is after fees when they price their inventory.
Items sold in March generate the income to pay fees for March. Are a lot of sellers operating in a way that they use the following month's sales to pay the fees for the previous month's sales?
Are sellers taking the full amount from PayPal without leaving enough to cover their monthly eBay bill? Would they be doing the same with PayPal if PayPal sent a monthly invoice instead of removing their fees instantly?
With managed payments the fees are not taken before you receive your payments; they're added to your monthly invoice just like your eBay selling fees are. Will sellers that consistently spend money in advance be able to manage that?
If sellers are finding themselves in this kind of situation they might benefit from making one-time payments throughout the month on a weekly basis - or even on a per-sale basis if they have trouble with weekly payments.
I'm not ragging on anybody who takes this sort of approach and I realize that this pandemic has created a unique situation and it's been hard financially on a lot of people who have had to take that money and pay other bills which is probably why so many people are discussing this topic.
I'm posting with hopes that somebody in a situation where they spend their PayPal money every single month without putting anything aside for their eBay invoice (year-round, not just because of this virus) will read this and it will help them find a different way to manage things like weekly payments that I mentioned above.
Getting Darwinian and speculative here ... managed payments may be the thing that proves to be too difficult for some sellers to handle.

I always use the one time payment daily when I have had sales. I know of sellers who spend the lot and then get in a bit of trouble when their invoice is due. In fact I heard of a few cases when they could not pay it. I often feel their just not managing their money properly. Paying per sales is a good idea so one does not get caught out. I assume managed payments still has the one time payment feature?

Paying your eBay bill in a timely manner is at least as important as any other bill you might have. It can and should generate revenue and income and be more of a priority than a cable bill or expensive phone plan. When you sell on eBay you can eat well, if you are not selling well, your expenses should be proportionate to your sales. When sales are great, you need to put something aside for when sales are down.

I wish MP would hold a running balance from sales held in eBay that we could chose to hold in eBay balance and respend on eBay if we wanted to. And have the option to transfer the rest to the bank. I often buy on eBay if they allowed you to buy on eBay using a mp balance from sales I think that would be an awesome feature.
