Did you mean:

Huh?

Okay, eBay wants to charge me an extra 8% to "promote" my listing, and now they want me to ship one business day after the purchase, before the money even clears my account? I listed a pair of hot selling sneakers below the average price and got four looks in 15 days. All four came on the first day of the listing. And if I'm not mistaken, they take a cut of the shipping charge too?

Is there something I am missing here? What happened to eBay?

Huh?

The only thing you're missing here is that eBay takes a final value fee out of the sales tax your buyer pays as well.

Ebay only suggests a promoted listing rate.  You can ignore that suggested rate and enter your own rate or none at all.  Ebay also only suggests shipping next day but it is not mandatory.  And yes, one often has to ship before the money is cleared into your account but, and Ebay has many flaws, I have yet to hear when such funds are not transferred into a sellers account.  Ebay does add on the FVF to shipping and also probably gets a small cut of the shipping as well.  Most of these policies have been around for years so not much has happened to Ebay unless you have not sold in a very long time indeed,

How managed payments work

Understanding seller fees

This really basic stuff needs to be reviewed before even listing here.  Also, you don't have to pay to promote anything - that's purely voluntary and many people don't, or only use 2% or something.

Huh?

Sounds like you have no idea about selling on eBay.

Educate yourself or the surprises will keep coming.

If you haven't sold anything in a month or so you will also have to wait 30+ days maybe for the sale.

eBay has been taking a cut of the shipping since 2011!

The seller, not ebay chooses to promote a listing.

The seller, not ebay chooses the handling time.

Yes, ebay takes a percentage of the shipping charge.

Did you not know these things before you listed the item?

Okay, I'll make this clear. EBay basically keeps my items in the basement if I don't pay to promote them. That is the point I am making. I pay a premium already and yet they want more? A far as selling, I'm sure I've been on here a heck of a lot longer than most of you - 22 years.  There was a time you could list things and people would see them. That is no longer the case. If you aren't giving it away, you are wasting your time trying to sell it. Little sellers made eBay was it is today. That is no longer the case.

And don't get me started on non payment. Three sales. One cancelled. One paid. One non-payment. As per the non payment, EBay has remove the quick relist from unpaid items. I once again have to wait five days to relist. And here is the good part, it says the listing closed a day later than it actually did, so make that six days.

I am sorry that you people have to work with a 10 to 20 percent profit margin. Keystone was a reality at one time. Ahh the memories.
