When you sell similar an item that previously had variations, how do you remove the variations from that listing? What didn't work for me was removing the variation or setting the quantity to zero, because that resulted in the price, quantity and UPC fields to be greyed out.

You can't (at least I've never been able to do it). A variation listing is sort of like glitter ... once you use it, it never goes away.

Yea it sucks, you can't. I have some listings that's been active for years. Many of them have discontinued variations that just sit there taking up space so buyers have to scroll down passed them. It takes up data also making your listing longer to load. I asked buyer this many times to let me remove them, they say no because of some dumb reasons that are obsolete. Then I asked to at least let me push them down to the bottom of the display list... they just shrug and sweep the issue under the rug. I would complain to eBay about it too so they know many sellers have an issue with it.
