I have some proof US coins and US currency I would like to sell on ebay. I tried but they have a limit of 500 dollars and 5 items a month. I am a collector thinning out my colection not a business and most of the items I want to sell are a lot more than 500 dollars. I have nothing to sell for just a few dollars. Is there any way ebay could keep the funds in escrow for 30 days until they trust me. Or is there any other way...Thanks for any info Arnie

New sellers generally face listing limits. Start out with lesser value items to build up your reputation and you limits will increase gradually.
Would you know how to protect yourself against the multitude of ways buyers could attempt to defraud you on higher value items?

Well, if you sell some less expensive stuff and it goes well, they'll raise your selling limit. I would recommend doing this anyhow, there's a learning curve to selling stuff on eBay, and you don't want to be learning any lessons on $500+ items. It's good you've got a couple hundred feedbacks at least, your account isn't screaming "Scam Me!" because you have a 3 f/b score, but I'd recommend selling some lower cost items first, then get eBay to raise your limit.
You can sell a $500+ item by starting the auction below your limit, and if it sells for $1,000 you've got a sale. But you'll then be over your limit for the rest of the month.
Have you tried contacting them to ask them to raise your limit? That's a pretty low limit, and since you have some history here, they might raise it for you right now... or not, they're sorta random and clueless at times.

Thanks I have been on ebay about 10 years a few years age I sold all of my low priced items and had great feedback. I have only higher priced items now. How do people sell cars and such on ebay if they are restricted on price without having to sell 100's of lower priced items first...Thanks Arnie
On this ID? It looked like all your f/b was as a buyer. If you have an ID with sales history, they're more likely to raise your limits.

Help & Contact link at top of page... you'll have to dink around saying what your problem is, they'll eventually give you a phone number to call Customer Service, or offer to have Customer Service call you.

Some categories are more tightly restricted than others. Currency may be one of them. If you have never sold in that category, you could be seeing limits due to that.
On the other hand, you might be able to list a dozen high value cell phones with no problem. Especially if you're registered from Asia. 🙂

you have the new seller limits...
BUT i would say you should sell some lesser priced items first...buiol up your limit..BUT mostly
learn the ropes...the ebay ropes... get your shipping figured out, ebay labels and tracking...how you'll ship...box.envelopes, padded.... and Insurance....priority gives you $50 with that...but on expensive item how and what you will do ..cost wise...
do you offer "free shipping" or not.... learn how returns worlk, the ebay procedures with returns and cases...
i could go on....the seller center and topics in the site map area...look up stuff read....you'll be glad you do...when it happens you'll be ahead of most...
if using paypal(later the other one)...read up on there rules too..cases /return can be opened via them..and for longer time frames....
so ..use the beginning to learn and not LOSE because you jumped in the pool and there was a rock below....and there are rocks! and scammers....and FEES, OMG look up and understand YOUR fees...
yes shipping and the price have a FVF ...it does, just because...you can ask why or look up why another time..but it does.... paypal takes a cut too....so....
free listing are free to list...without the extra things that do have a fee....and a SALE has FVF , once sold...unpaid buiyer ..look up what to do..you'll have those..and you have to do the procedure correctly, then you get YOUR fees back.... so lots to know.
start slow....and sell things if you lost them , you can live on.... but learn.

Not recent and a different category explains why you're seeing limits.

I don't know how I missed your 79 f/b as a seller before...
Hopefully they'll agree to raise your limits.
I don't know what you have to sell... if you ran 5 low start auctions, and they brought $2,500, I think you can do that, they just won't let you list any more once your current bid level + past sales exceed $500. 1950s proof sets will bring good money with good pictures listed that way, modern proof sets maybe not so good...
But with a sales history, they may well raise your limits for you.

Your account is pretty old. Contact eBay and ask them to increase your listing limits.
