First I would put it in a clear plastic bag. Then either bubblewrap or peanuts. The box itself doesn't need to be thick, heavy nor double-boxed. USPS knows that with priority mail shipping they are responsible should the box get damaged--damaging the item. I would make sure there is no room for the item to move around in the box during shipment. Then I would make sure my listings reflected the correct box lengths.
