I pre-ordered 2 models of the new iPhone X and want to resell them. There are lots of offers on eBay.
However, when I list the iPhones and indicate that the handling time is 30 days (because I don't have them currently), eBay says "We’re reducing seller risk and enhancing the buying experience by requiring all items in the Cellphone & Smartphone category to be listed with a handling time of 3 days or less."
So if I choose 3 days, and someone buys the iPhones, will the transaction be canceled because I didn't ship the item yet? Or should I print a USPS label and ship it in 2 weeks when I get the iPhone?
How does it work?
I also heard that eBay may shut down accounts offering pre-orders and violating the 3-day handling rule. Is it true?

Answer: you don't.
You will be targetted by all kinds of scammers from all over the place if you try to sell something like that with a new account with low feedback.
However, if you are intent on doing so, I highly recommend you spend several hours reading these boards using the key words "scam" and "fraud" and within reading just a few articles you will learn a lot about how you can protect yourself from being an easy target.

If you don't have it, don't list it.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Does anyone hear that - the sound of scammers racing to your listing.
I believe that phone is the one everyone wants and will cost close to $1,000. And that means some will try to get it from you for free.
Ebay is stating they are reducing seller risk for this item - that has to be the biggest laugh of the day.
You will lose your phone, your money and ebay will tell you so sorry but it is the cost of doing business.

Also, this is never a good idea under any circumstance. If for any reason the sale falls through, and you've purchased a USPS label you will not be able to void it more than 5 days after printing it and will lose the money you spent on postage.
You print the postage at the time you are ready to ship, after you've received a cleared payment, maybe the night before, and that's it.

Even in a perfect world, I as a buyer am not likely to go throwing that much money at a listing that says the item won't ship for 30 days.
Realistically, that's not a money-making scheme that you want to pursue. It will not end well. Sorry.

But there are so many listings right now if you search, and they are even mentioned on the news saying that pre-ordered iPhones have already been sold with a high markup price.
I am thinking to wait until I receive the iPhones and then try to sell.
I have successfully resold 2 new iPhones on Amazon, but there were like 20 scammers. Before confirming, I looked at any suspicious clues and made sure the address is in a good neighborhood. But you never know, it is a big risk....

And I've just read a few stories about iPhone scams and wow.... Maybe I shouldn't do it and cancel the pre-order. It seems like eBay thinks "the customer is always right". And iPhones are the top target of the scammers.
Amazon also has tons of scammers and has a 30-day return policy, so even if it's not a scammer, they may play around with the iPhone for a month and easily return it. And I would lose a lot of value, because the new iPhone will become used.
Craigslist seems very sketchy too...

I wouldn't list them until I had them because there is no guarantee you will get them when they say you will.

Evening,
I think you are blinded by the profit you think you will make and are asking all the wrong questions about the wrong item to sell.

Beautiful. I love the smell of scammers in the evening.

Yes I think it is indeed very wise of you to reconsider.
I hate sounding like I am trying to discourage or talk a new seller down, it's just with the high dollar big ticket items they are a super magnet for scams and trouble. The higher the price, the higher the stakes, the higher the risk. It's just difficult to sell those kinds of things without working up to them first and establishing a pattern of successful sales with lower items.
There are plenty of other ways to make money in safer categories and lower dollar items that have a much lower scam rate.
I do wish you luck though!

You will get a INR case and you will get a defect for it (and most likely lose your selling privilege's for life).
People should not sell item they don't have.
BTW, If you're going to sell (especially on this ID) you're just BEGGING for scammers with this idea.
Good Luck.
