How to go about limiting access to an employee?

Our business is growing and we need to hire an employee to do basic tasks such as setting up drafts/listing items. How do you guys hire people and limit their accounts?

I dont see how making another user ID would be any different. We dont want them to be able access most of the important info on seller hub. I tried looking up 3rd party listers but with turbo lister shuy down I'm not sure where to go from here. You cant trust anyone.

You bite the bullet and hope they don't rip you off.

You could have them do offsite things-take pictures and crop them.  Write listings up on the computer so you just have to copy and paste.

Or you could set up with something like Auctiva and let them make listings, but they would not be able to access your eBay account.

google search into third party listing tools, I think there is a way to do this with vendio.com.  Maybe sixbit.com can also do this for you.  Lastly if all you are planning them to do for you is to list items maybe a microsoft excel csv file might also work for you.

Good Luck Selling!

You don't. You hire people and trust them. However, I would require that the employee be bonded and make sure my business insurance policy covers any losses due to negligence, theft or any other wrong-doing.

Naturally, I would use a different log-in ID and password for the eBay account than for the Paypal account, separating all financial information and access from the listing-creation process.

I actually know someone whose employee changed the Paypal address within a sprinkling of their eBay listings so the payments were going to their own paypal account.  He didn't catch it until a buyer wanted to do a return and he couldn't find the payment.

NO, I don't think I would allow an employee other than me own mutter to be listing on my account.

Question and not a statement here... Couldn't the OP use a csv file to put all the info into and then the OP upload it themselves via file exchange?

Then there's also sellersourcebook.com.  You could have the employee set up and list the items directly from sellersourcebook without actually having the employee able to sign into your eBay account.  Of course that won't stop them from being able to enter a different paypal address into the listings and if they were to get ticked off, they could destroy you will policy violations.

I'm going to assume you have TL installed currently. If you do...then you limit them to that program to do their listing. You don't need a password to access it. If they need to do any research on eBay while creating the listings, they can go on eBay unlogged in. I wouldn't let someone new do an upload without me checking it first. So, check their work, and then upload yourself.

Has eBay reconsidered their position on Turbo Lister?

I would have verified the Paypal payment amount and details before releasing the order to be shipped. In My eBay, a simple $ sign mouse-over reveals the Paypal e-mail address. Any discrepancy and the employee is called on the carpet!

Only on existing accounts. They are currently doing limited support until all the important features of TL are provided in seller hub.

Honestly, the guy had worked for him in excess of 5 years.  It was actually pretty shocking.

I actually print my postage from Paypal, so I would have caught it as well.  I open the transaction in eBay and click on the paypal transaction link which opens paypal to the payment.  If the pop-up doesn't open to the transaction in Paypal... There's a problem.

TL can still be downloaded and used. eBay has extended it's use for an undetermined amount of time.

Good to know.  I don't use it myself, but that's great for others.

eBay removed the download.

We are no longer offering downloads of Turbo Lister. Everything you need will soon be available in Seller Hub. Click here to learn more about our selling tools. If you find you need help, please contact Customer Service.
