How to fix Bidder/Buyer's wrong address ?

The bidder who won my item has provided an unusable address (no house number, just a street) and now wants me to ship to a completely different address (which is not workable either).  I suggested they update their address in their eBay account and I can send a revised invoice - is there a better way to handle this ?

@timestreasuresllc

You need to cancel the sale "problem with buyer's address".  Then ask them to repurchase and include the correct shipping address with their payment when you relist.   You need to ship to the address eBay provided for you with the payment.  A buyer that changes their information after the fact will NOT change the original address they used even if you send an invoice.

Make sure you are conversing with the buyer (same ID) as opposed to some random person claiming to be your buyer as well.  That is a whole other issue.

Cancel the sale. Reason: Problem with buyers address.

Re-list the item.

If you still want to sell to this buyer, have him fix his address and re-purchase the item.

If you don't want to deal with this buyer, block him.

Seller cannot do that, only buyer can. If he is unwilling, cancel and block.

The problem started when the address eBay provided (originally set up by the buyer) contained no house number, only a Street name, unworkable for UPS.

I should have mentioned that this item has not been paid for yet, and I was hoping to straighten out the address problem before they paid for it.

You said, A buyer that changes their information after the fact will NOT change the original address they used even if you send an invoice.   This is especially helpful.

@timestreasuresllc

The buyer can choose the shipping address prior to making a payment.  I did not know you were able to view their address until they paid.  Sorry for the confusion.

All this smells bad.  Meaning, your buyer is trying to scam you.  Good luck on your selling journey!

How to fix Bidder/Buyer's wrong address ?

Good Morning!

I also had one of these this week.  I told them I could only send to the address listed on eBay.  (Which was in a different city).  We agreed to cancel the sale.  I told them that I would hold the item for a week and suggested a way for him to fix the address problem.

Just my Two Cents...
Thank you for being here!

It the item is not paid for, they can update the address before paying. If they have not paid in 4 days, on the 5th cancel for nonpayment and add to your block list. At this point stop all communications with them, the ball is in their court to get things straightened out.
