How to enable Pre-Approved bidders option? (workaround inside)

Hello,

Because of a high amount of bad/entitled buyers that Ebay has created, I have had to make my own "pre-approval" process.  Right now I have to raise the price of my item unreasonably high and make a comment in the description to "please contact me for pre-approval".   Has anyone found a way other than that to do it?  The bidding requirement options are currently not strong enough to keep out these bad buyers that want to return perfectly good items, even though I have the no returns accepted, and even say no returns in my description. Do they think I am WalMart or something?

This isn't against the TOS because I am allowed to price my item for whatever I want.  I suggest others do the same until a permanent option is enabled for us sellers.  Time for some balance.  Right now there is no integrity in the buyer/seller relationship, it should be equal.

If you're pricing your items way above their selling value, how do you expect buyers to even click on your listings to read your pre-approval request?

Automatically ruling out buyers who've ever left negative feedback for a seller also seems counter-productive, since there are occasions that genuinely warrant such feedback.

I guess if you feel you're making plenty of sales despite these buyer-reducing policies, then you're doing fine.

Sorry, let me be clear.  I am raising the price to the point no one would buy them.  Then when approved they will be allowed to send an offer.

Also let me be clear again, this is happening on one of my other accounts.

Hummm... I still think you'll find that eBay will probably not be happy with contact me part of it.  Of course, setting your price unreasonably high in order to have negotiating room is not a new concept to anyone familiar with haggling.

Actually, it would seem to be a cumbersome system to have to negotiate with every potential buyer.  I know it has been done in the used car business for years, but it would seem more appropriate for face to face selling encounters.

By the way, what would keep someone from simply making you an offer without contacting you first?
