I don;t do auctions but when I work with my active listings I noticed that under "Actions" there is an option to "change to auction" listing that you select via check-boxes on the left. I hope that it is as simple as that.

Stick to the buy it now. Auctions now days can be difficult, especially if the winning buyer doesn't pay.

Thats it martin 2001 is correct. I just changed 4 BIN to auctions about 2 hours ago. Depending on what you sell auctions can be good.

There are lots of reasons but a couple of examples.
1. Item has been listed multiple times as BIN, changing to auction to set a low starting price and let the auction run to see what it brings just to unload it.
2. New auto-pay for OBO and auctions eliminates/reduces the risk of non-payers that used to be associated with auctions and OBO.

The auto pay feature is reducing the non-payment issues and should eliminate it once the feature is rolled out site wide. Downside to BIN is you will never get more than what you have the item listed for unless it is some type of scam attempt.

Remember that if you do decide to change some of your GTC [good till cancelled] listings to an auction, reduce your price a bit. Don't go any lower than you need to cover your costs and fees. But you need to allow some room so buyers will bid. Nothing crazy, just remember bids would likely not start at your Fixed Price you currently want.
In most categories auctions don't work very well anymore. But it can be different in categories like collectibles. I hope it all works out for you. GOOD LUCK!!
