My first time selling an item thru Ebay. I broke it while packaging. Buyer submitted payment, I have not received funds, funds are on hold. How do i cancel transaction? Thanks!
If I break an item while packing I would take a photo to show buyer what has happened first. Then the buyer can let you cancel the transaction without thinking you just didn't want to ship it.
Find the listing in your Orders list (Awaiting Shipment), use the dropdown on the far left and pick "refund" on the next page pick Out Of Stock as the reason and the enter the full amount in the refund box, click next and confirm.

I did this but was interupted with a message to enter a refund payment method and would not let me complete the process you mention. Confusing because I did not ship and I did not get paid. I am guessing Ebay pays the seller regardless if they ship product, or buyer receives product. So, I assume "enter payback/refund method" is for when funds deposit to my account the funds are immediately withdrawn and returned??? As a seller I feel that I am going to be paying/refunding the buyer for a product I never shipped and he's going to be laughing all the way to the bank.
