Okay kids, gather 'round. Did you ever need a quick box for shipping but the only ones you had were printed on the outside, cans of soup, cereal or other? If you've never "reversed" a box here is how you do it and it takes little time ... (btw, the box used in this example was a freebie and was NOT ours!) I will explain the process first and you can follow the pics afterwards ...
Inside every RSC box is at least one Glue joint in the corner ... cut the tap on the box so you can lay the box flat with the Glue joint facing up. With a sharp knife (for those of you who have been trained on that tool) insert it in the glue joint and with a slight sawing motion work your way across the box.
Once the joint is separated simply flip the box over and reverse it by turning it inside out so now the Glue joint is on the outside of the box and the unprinted brown box is outward.
Using glue run a bead of glue down where the glue joint was and press the joint flap down and use a piece of tape to hold it in place. The tape will let you actually set the box up immediately if you want or you can wait a minute or two for the glue to set. Hot glue works too with less drying time.

Why bother? I re-use Amazon boxes all the time and nobody has evern complained or even commented about it. Sometimes I stick a Priority sticker or tape over the Amazon ID.

I just tape the seam then make a 'cross' and go on with life.
My kids ate the glue when they were little so I didn't buy any...
Now they are all teens, figured glue was safe... nope now they take the glue and the borax and make "slime". So I quit buying glue again.
Maybe when I get grandkids glue will be able to come back in my house 😉

Yup, I turned MANY a box inside out in my early years exactly that way, including the hot glue and tape. lol
These days I use the eBay coupons for free shipping supplies and the free priority shipping supplies from USPS, so rarely need a box of a particular size so badly that I have to go out to hunt one up. Have to occasionally cut one down a bit, which I hate wasting the time doing, but that's the extend of what I do to *make-do* for shipping.

Like partial*eclipse, I don't even bother with reversing Amazon boxes. I have reversed a couple of other boxes, for the reasons you stated. Thanks for the tutorial. I appreciate your efforts to help the community!

I think I'll give it a try. There are plenty of Amazon boxes in my garage. Sales are kind of slow right now, why not?

Made me think of that light bulb joke.
Variation on a theme.
Can you reverse a box?
Yes, but the box has to really WANT to reverse!
Sorry, that was sad.

Because some of us happen to like working with knives and glue ... others with lesser skills work with stickers (ha-ha just a joke P-E!) ... and for me there is the added benefit of the shear joy of using a competitor's "free" box to ship my item in! Makes me feel like I'm winning again ...

Back when I turned other boxes inside out to ship my eBay sales, I did it simply because it looked nicer. It didn't take but a couple of minutes to open and flip and put back together and was really easy to do.

And some of us aren't allowed sharp instruments...
we might run with them!

Personally, I like it.
Thanks mr_lincoln for teaching me to think "both" inside and outside the box.

Exactly ... I think 1/2 the time people don't even notice the inside but they sure notice the outside ...

True...until you get that ONE buyer who gets their knickers in a twist over getting an Ebay item in an Amazon box
