How to Allow Volume Discounts?

Anyone know of a good method to allow for volume discounts when selling multiples of a widget?  For example, I have three identical widgets for sale and I am willing to sell one for $20, 2 for $17 each, and all three for $15 each.

You cannot implement it systematically without a subscription to an eBay store. The Promotions Manager tool is only for store subscribers.

The cleanest way to do it without a store is to bundle them and sell in one listing as a lot.

When you subscribe to a Store, you get access to "Promotions Manager" which allows all kinds of discounts and markdowns.

Without a store you can't do it automatically. It would have to be done through a revised invoice or through Best Offer negotiation.

Yea, I thought about best offer but from what I see that is opening up a can of worms as the offer seems to only apply to a single widget at a time.

The OP can set up a variation listing, so that 1 is 20.00, 2 is 34.00, 3 is 45.00, etc..

Or separate listings for each quantity that they want to sell. If someone wants more than is in one of the listings, the OP can just make up a listing for that buyer.

OP said they had 3 of the item.

They would need 6 of the item just to set up a Variation listing with single qty of the bundles.

1 widget - qty 1 = 1

2 widgets - qty 1 = 2

3 widgets -qty 1 = 3

6 widgets total ... because you just know that someone will come along and buy all of the variations at once ... it's Murphy's Law ...

Variations will work only if the OP has as many actual items in stock that s/he creates bundle variations for.

You're right. I see the 'I have 3 widgets' now. I assumed by 'volume discount' they would have had more than that.

I think what needs to be determined first is:

Is this an item that normally gets purchased in bulk?

To use my category as an example, buyers will purchase 3 Dinner Plates at once, but not 3 Gravy Boats. It would make sense to bundle the plates, but 3 Gravy Boats would be a hard sell.

Well, I might, since I have a long 1800's farm table in my kitchen!

With the way some of these listings come up, though, I'd be afraid to put how many you will get in a title. I just clicked on a link for an antique toy car, saw that someone had 4 repro tires cheap in a size I could use, the page that came up says 8 tires(not 4 as the listing is really for). The 8 was taken from another title from the same seller.

This is getting out of hand. If someone would buy from that page, it would be a SNAD in the making, but possibly no proof anymore because the way that listing is shown on the 'product page' or whatever they are calling it today won't be shown that way in sold/completed listings - or if still active - viewing the sellers other items.

No wonder people aren't buying on here, or why there are so many problems now. Ebay is really screwing up thier site with these new pages.
