I thought there used to be a way to create a template using an existing listing.
I can find how to create a new template from scratch but I want to use an existing item.
Hellllllp!

Do you mean "sell similar" or are you trying to copy someone else's listing?

Sell similar? Well sort of. I want one of my current listings to be saved as a template for future "sell similars".
At this point, you are relying on remembering specifically which posting you would want to "sell similar". Sure, you could save the link to the listing or write it down somewhere so you can reference it but there should be an automated way of saving an existing listing as a template instead of "sell similar" every time.

When you go in to modify the listing, down at the bottom it will give you the option to save for later. That will keep it as a draft, but they don't stay there more than 60 days I think it is. You'd have to do one every few months.

OK thanks, I've noticed that too. Not quite the same as templates don't delete after 60 days. I guess I'm expecting it to be more user friendly than it is lol.
Thanks for the response

In your listing form, select advanced editing
Select create a template
Create your template and name it. Click create. You can save a total of ten.
Next time you list, select the template from the same dropdown menu. I have one template, I call it basic template.

I think I understand why a template isn't useful for you. All that's in a template is the item title and description, but there are many other parts of the listing form that remain inchanged from listing to listing, and that I don't want to have to repeat/fill in over and over again. For example, the format, duration, quantity, payment option, handling costs, excluded shipping locations (I have dozens), and my location would all have to be filled in every time I created a new listing from scratch, even if I did have a template for the title and description sections.
This is why I use either Relist or Sell Similar to create my new listings. As for which one of these is better, there is much discussion about that within the group and I'm still not clear as to which one should be used.

I dont think you will need this question answering as you asked about this over a year ago but i thought i would reply in case anyone else is stuck and is directed to this forum. I was stuck and had the same question, i came on to this forum but did not get my answer. I mangaed to just play about on ebay and found that it is quite easy to creat template from an existing listing.
when the listing is ACTIVE, find it in the active listing section, click on the dropdown menu where is says 'edit' and there is an option for 'save as a template'

I did the same thing today... Just go to edit and create a template. Really easy at the top I just type in exactly what I have on my listing heading. This way it is easy to find. I do this so I can resist something that did not sell. I can now do this at a later date. At one point I tried making copies or drafts on Ebay from my original listing. This was easy.. however the issue was that the drafts disappeared after a very short amount of time. I think the templates might do the trick...
So I have a question...one I just can not find and answer to.... How long do the templates last once you create them and how many can one put on.
Appreciate any help with this,
Lisa
