How do we go about listing a few luxury-brand eyeglass frames?

Hi! We recently purchased a handful of high-end eyeglass frames at an estate sale (Tiffany, Dolce & Gabbana, and Versace). We don't usually sell luxury-brand items, so I wanted to ask about the proper way to do so. Is it OK to list these items the same as any other item? I found help pages in the Seller Center regarding the authentification process for high-end handbags, jewelry, watches, and sneakers, but I didn't see anything about eyeglass frames. These would probably each be listed in the range of $100-$350. All of them come with branded cases and branded lens cloths, and all but one of the pairs also have a little booklet inside the case. They all appear to be of high quality and I assume that they are authentic, but I am not the original owner and have no proof of purchase since these came from an estate sale. What's the best way to go about reselling these, or should I not sell them? Thanks for any advice!

There are not as valuable as would you think.   I just got brand new Dolce & Gabbana at the optometrist office for only $100 on sale.   EBAY selling prices start at Dolce & Gabbana $5, Versace $13, Tiffany $10.

I would just create a listing and hope for the best.

Taking them to an eyeglass store for a professional assessment would be a good idea. The staff there can provide information on the cost of new pairs from various brands and confirm the authenticity of the eyeglasses you have.

I'd call the store beforehand to inquire about their services before bringing them in.

@the-book-rescue  Good advice above ☝️

It does not hurt to have another set of "EYES" (no pun) look at the frames. Sometimes certain styles are more valuable because of rarity, or they are in style at the moment. There are so many fakes out there so proceed with caution.

With prescription glasses (not sunglasses), i also would take out the prescription lens and only would sell the frames (naked). That is what i did and some sellers advise against that practice.

I have heard that it is better to leave the prescription lenses intact because if the buyer takes the frame to their eyeglasses store, the old lenses can provide a template for size/fit.  @the-book-rescue should just list them that the included lenses are prescription and will need to be replaced with the buyer's own lenses.

You always want to leave the original lens in for the reasons that @pickapaper gave. I've done this several times with Ray-Bans frames and that is what the eye doctor office stated.

That is why i say many sellers may advise against it. In the past, i had a rash of buyers complain about the condition of the lens (prescription) even though they were sold as frames only and detailed any issues with the glass. Now when i sell them, i don't have any issues with complaints and the buyers have had no issues with finding glass to fit the frames. YMMV

I have purchased frames (naked) and have taken them to Costco to have them put glass in them with no issues. Most places will have templates of popular brand/models they can pull from and other places scan the frames to put glass in. (Costco) Of course if you have a unusual design (Hexagon lens or odd shape) it may behoove you to keep the lens in.

What works for me may not work for others.

How do we go about listing a few luxury-brand eyeglass frames?

You can perhaps learn from my mistakes.

I have Valentino vintage 1970-1980 sunglasses 🕶️ cats eye 👁️ for sale that I placed on eBay some time ago.

eBay item number:196801381220

As I am a prescription glasses wearer myself while I am trying to sell these, I fell in love with them.

I guess I’ll never sell them here on eBay as obviously my price is too high. ($125.)
I notice vintage Valentino glasses do have a big range of optional prices high to low…

Probably should take them off eBay go to eye doctor get a current new eye prescription and keep them for myself?

Signed,

mixed up seller
