How do I send a message when an order is placed?

For example, say that I have an item that includes a PDF guide that I can’t print out. Is there a way to send that guide to a buyer the instant they place a purchase?

You could copy and paste the text to an email and send it to him. You first highlight the text by left clicking and then you right click to copy, right click again to paste to the email.

Since I see no sold or current listings for you under this ID, I'd like to be so bold as to make a suggestion.  When you list this item, be sure you include the information that there is a PDF guide that will be sent via email to the buyer so that the buyer will be anticipating receiving it that way.

Print the URL on the packing slip.

Can you post it on a website & then send them a link in FB ?

I do know that with some large sellers, I get their own notifications as soon as I've purchased something.  I'm not sure though if they do that from within eBay or have their own code via the API or some other way, to do it.  I would check the things you can automate on eBay & see if there is anything you can send upon purchase.  I know you can automate FB upon purchase & I think there are a few other options, but I'm headed out & do not have time to hunt for it right now.

I have manually typed Installation Guides, Owners Manuals, Removal Instructions and Installation Instructions into my descriptions. Some are short and others egregiously long. That empowers the buyer to be a Do-It-Yourselfer and increases my sales.

You haven't stated the length of the PDF guide. Perhaps you can print out some of the PDF guides at your local library and include them in your packages.
