I have received an offer for one of my multi-item listings at $7 each for 6 items, plus $4.50 shipping. If the buyer gets 6 items, it pushes the weight of the package well over the 15.9oz weight limit for first class mail, so the package will have to be shipped via priority mail (flat rate priority is the next cheapest shipping option). I'll take the $7 per item offer, but not with the discounted shipping also. How can i send a counter offer with a specified shipping rate?

You can't change the shipping. So adjust your items asking price so the total comes out to what you want.

You can't....the offer never includes shipping, just the item(s)
Interesting that your ID is essentially a web address and e-Bay lets it remain??

Shipping is not a negotiable part of the "offer" process. It cannot be formally adjusted through offers by either you or your potential buyers. You'll have to arrange it in some fashion similar to the one suggested by the previous poster.

Hi@chipmunkcheeks-at-cutey.com ,
You have gotten some good replies from @pburn , @katzrul15 and @nobody*s_perfect . Below are two links that may be of additional assistance. The first one covers Best Offers which eBay has stated ONLY applies to the item price and not shipping. The second link is to your Shipping Preferences and there is a section that deals with Combined shipping. You should go through the options you have as a Seller on how to set up your Combined shipping. You are correct, based on how Combined shipping is set, that on a multiple item purchase the total weight gets added up which could push the shipping cost to a higher priced method ... if the transaction allows YOU to send the Buyer an invoice you can adjust the shipping cost they will see on the invoice. If the sale is completely paid for AND what was paid was too much you can Refund them the overage via the pull down menu on the Sold item ... there is a "Send refund" choice on the list.
I use Calculated shipping for most of my items AND I have Combined shipping set up to ADD all shipping costs. That way I can either adjust shipping to the correct amount on an invoice OR Refund the overage. My Descriptions all end with "Shipping is combined" so Buyers know I do it ...
Regards,
Mr. L

An interesting question. When one sends an offer for a multiple-item listing the question is whether the shipping per item remains or is it just a single shipping charge? If someone answers that the buyer would just get a single shipping charge, in this case $4.50, then I would create a new listing for the six items with an appropriate shipping charge. And if the answer is that the buyer would get a multiplied shipping charge of $27 then I would also create a new listing for the six items with an appropriate shipping charge.

yup, interesting how that happens.
Along the same lines it seems that an existing ID can be changed to something starting with outright profanity without being tagged by the bots. Saw one of those recently.

Ah....a morphing kinda process.

I've split multiple purchases into two packages depending on the shipping cost of 2 first-class packages versus a single priority package. I can ship up to 3 ornaments first class most of the time in a single box. 4 or more ornaments will tip the scale over the 1lb weight so I will split up the weight (ornaments), and put one or two in each box and ship both first class.

More like an email address.

@katzrul15 I didn't click on the OP's ID ... did you? Just curious if their Community ID profile comes up or if you go off site? I'm chicken and don't want to try it LOL! But if the ID went off site I might be inclined to Report it ...

Unlike others who constantly report, I rarely report anything more exciting than a Xombie Thread.
The ID is essentially their email/web addy in a creative fashion. Would surmise it is against e-Bay policy, but who knows...evidently e-Bay allows it to remain?
Thanks for the suggestion. I too do not click on unknowns and will leave ypur suggestion to others who are so inclined. Just not part of why I am here/on the boards. 😺

The account was grandfathered in because it was allowed before Nov 2001.

Hee heee, misread your title. How do I send a counter offer with sipping charge? I'll drink to that!
