I want to report someone who messaged me about an item i'm auctioning.
They offered me $1,000 more than they needed to and asked me to send an invoice to them via paypal, they also told me their email by using (a) and ,com so they obviously know ebay doesn't allow users to share email adresses.
I tried going to the report a buyer section in the help and contact section but I can't because they'll only allow me to report someone who has actually bought an item.
Please help me report them so no one falls for a scam

Sorry, there is no way for you to report it.
Just delete the message and be glad you recognized the scam.

Is this really true Ebay community? I have one right now as well similar to the scam buyer described. Does eBay really not allows us to report a clear case of a scam buyer? If this is true, eBay does not care about its sellers. It certainly does not do anything to protect us, if this is true. Thank you

I don't believe you can report attempts to scam . It's sort of like trying to file a police report against someone who looks like a criminal. The only thing sellers can do to protect themselves from the type of thing you described is to stay informed about all the dirty tricks that can be used against them and remain vigil . Tulips

Ya, pretty much.
You can always call and report them, but probably won't do much good.
They might shut down 1 account, but these scammers have plenty more accounts ready to keep scamming.
In cases like these, sellers need to take the steps to protect themselves.

I was told by eBay twice on the phone that after someone sent back an item I sold with missing parts and with some serious damage that there first to email pics to the seller. Five minutes after I got off the phone they closed the case and refunded the person before I could do what they told me to and even after I told them it was clearly a scam and the guy had been trying to get my email. I called back and they told me to report it... but there isn't anywhere to report it (or to appeal a decision even though there are links for it that go nowhere).
