I sent a package through USPS on May 8 I purchased insurance through USPS in the value of what was paid for the item (close to $800) as well as signature required for delivery. I thought I was covering my bases. The buyer was not there when delivery was attempted on May 11. I tried messaging the buyer a few times throughout May and they did not respond. They did not even check on the package until June. Tracking shows it as "in transit to another facility" since May 17. I am sick over this. I can only assume the buyer will be requesting a refund soon. In order to file with USPS for my insurance, I need a receipt. I stupidly thought EBay would have that on file and I cannot find it anywhere. I no longer have the email that said my shipping label was ready. I must have deleted it.

You have to go to your shipping page and look at order details or shipping details it should be there.

I should be clearer, go to selling tab click on it go to the bottom of the list and click shipping labels. that is where you will find shipping details.

Seller Hub/Orders/Shipping labels
Find the label in question and tick its hot 'Shipment details/cost' button. Right click and print for a receipt.

Right. That shows how much I paid total for shipping. But it does not specify that I added insurance or the value of the insurance. Everything I read about filing an insurance claim through USPS says I have to have my receipt.

@vintagemama79 If you have your tracking #, go to the USPS website and enter it. Click on either Show Details or Tracking History, I can't remember the exact wording. At the bottom of that page it says Product Information. Click on that and it will tell you the amount of insurance etc. You can also request Proof of Delivery in the middle of that same page. It takes a couple of days, but they did send it (email) eventually.
You can find your shipping label by going to Orders on your Seller Hub, the clicking Shipping labels. Find the item and go all the way to the right and click on the USPS Priority Mail link. This will open a window for you with your label details including the cost. I'll see if I can think of any other ways to go about it.

Your tracking number is your receipt, eBay does not issue a receipt only the post office does when you ask for one at the post office when they take your package. With the tracking number the USPS should be able to help you.

File a Claim | USPS << Here's the USPS link. I read "The person filing must have the original mailing receipt."
Admittedly, it's been forever since I shipped anything insured, but @huntfishdie45 makes a good point. If I took the package to the PO, I'd get a receipt. But if my mail carrier picked up, I wouldn't. Right? But surely they could help you since you have the tracking number, I would think... 🤔

Thank you for these suggestions. I just tired both. When I look up the details on USPS it says "insured and signature service" but no specific dollar amounts. When I look at orders on Ebay sellers hub, it shows that I paid $51.16 total but does not itemize anything. I am trying to file a claim on USPS online and it is asking for documentation. I don't know what I can submit?

Brainstorm! Go into the order and pretend to purchase another label, exactly like the first one. When your cost gets to $51.16, you'll know exactly what you paid for 'specifics'. Just don't forget to arrow back after the exercise... you don't want to purchase another one! 🤞

@vintagemama79 I have filed claims without a printed receipt in my hand. I use the info provided on ebay - the recipient's name, address, tracking, value of the item, cost of shipping paid, etc. You can copy and paste or take pics of the ebay page showing the details, but I've never had to upload anything unless it was a claim for a damaged item.
You can choose to print your USPS labels with or without a receipt on ebay. I usually print with a receipt out of habit. Plus it was accessible after it was gone from ebay. If you want help with that after you resolve this, just reply here.

Don't waste your time filing a claim until there is no movement for 30 days from the last information showing when you check the Tracking Log. If the package was being sent back to you it may take 30 + days comming back. They don't make that a priority when that happens. And when you do file a claim make sure you have information for them that the item was worth the amount of insurance you purchased. Just because you sold an item for $xx.xx amount and insured it that does not mean you will get that amount., Been down that road a few times with them on that. Good Luck
