I sell a lot of magazines and would like to offer multiple discounts, like buy 2 / get 20% off, buy 3 / get 30% off and such. Sort of like how the volume pricing works - except across multiple listings.
Is there any way to accomplish this? I could just set up multiple order discount offers, but if they overlap like that, would only one campaign apply? I mean, if someone bought 3 magazines and got 30% off, would they also get an additional 20% off for the other campaign??

The way I do it is have multiple public coupons going.
Say for books, it'll be the following coupons:
Buy 2, get 10%
But 3, get 15%
But 4 or more, get 25%
Or however you want to go about it. Testing it, it seems to correctly do the promo based on how many books you added to the cart. Even mentions to add another for bigger discount if I recall correctly. Also mentions the shipping discount in the cart and when you select add to cart on the listing for cards. But that can also be random. Sometimes it's shipping. Other times it is add another for 10 or whatever percent.
And for the listing. In search, it shows the 10% off for 2. And in the listing, it shows the buy 3 coupon.
Even though it probably won't get seen, I mention the other promos in the description.
It could be better but it is what it is. At least it seems to work. Main issue for many maybe is it is only possible if you have a store.

Still no real solution to this. Even when creating a Volume Discount through Promotion Manager and UNCHECKING the "Apply discount to single item only" box - it still only applies discounts to single items.

The answer is above in post 16. Volume discounts is not the solution.
You can create multiple Order discounts. Example, creating 3 separate order discounts:
Buy 2+ get 10% Off
Buy 3+ get 15% Off
Buy 4+ get 25% Off
The order discounts will not stack. The system will automatically apply the best discount. So if someone has 2 in their cart, the 10% off will apply. If someone has 4 in their cart, the 25% off will apply.
