So i'm trying to listen an item with free shipping, however I want to add a shipping fee on ONLY when buyers purchase more than 1 of the item, as it drives shipping costs way up. If they buy just 1, free shipping is no problem.

In the listing options, I unchecked "free shipping", put $0.00 in the "cost" box and $2.88 in the "each additional" box, but it keeps resetting to $0.00

I don't like that free shipping nonsense. If you promote listings you pay extra for advertisement, and I don't believe that buyers think it's so great because there is free shipping. Seriously, people can usually add two numbers together. Haha. If you have multiples of an item, don't do free shipping, then you can charge a little less for the item and a little more for the extra weight. Sorry you'll have to do this. If it is a very popular item people are smart enough to realize it's about the same cost as another item you're competing against.

The short answer is, you can't.

My question is WHY would you want to do that? It makes no sense.

Scenario #1:

John buys 1

Bruce buys 1

Tony buys 1

Sam buys 1

Richard buys 1

Scenario #2:

John buys 5

What's the difference? If you're ok with scenario #1 what's wrong with scenario #2? If it makes you feel better, if John buys 5, pack and send him 5 items SEPARATE orders. Pretend it's going to 5 different people.

I've actually split multiples orders between packages where it's cheaper to do that. Never had a complaint yet, but I do alert the buyer they're getting 3 parcels rather than one.

The problem you seem to be having (entering a price for 2+) may be because that option only refers to selling 2 of the SAME item; not two different listings. If your buyer selected to add 2 of the same ad from the same listing, then the price would show a shipping charge. But selecting 2 different listings will result in each being free shipping. Just like the Volume Discount - it only works on multiples of the same item, not purchases of more than one listing.

There is no way to fix this that I am aware of.

If you have your shipping/handling costs embedded into the selling price of your item with the mystical "free shipping" (the greater majority of sellers do that) then don't work about adding a few for additional quantities ordered. Plus your profit margin will be greater.
