I have a buyer offering a decent price for one of my items. Problem is, he has already bid on the item so I cannot find a way to add a "offer button". Although I am pretty sure it was there to begin with. Anyway, how to I take his offer? I accepted through messaging but that is just words. I need to know how to do the transaction.

Let it run.

I don’t think you can add a bin once someone has bid. Not sure about the offer.

Perfect,
Change the status to item sold to be able to pay by paypal"
I sent back "retract your bid and use the offer button or retract your bid and I can put up a buy it now". I was thinking this is the only safe way to do it?
Your buyer must not know how eBay works. You can’t just change the status to sold. You can either a)end the listing and sell it to the highest bidder, b) cancel his bid or C)he retracts his bid.

Won't work.

If he has bid, I would just let it run. He might realize it is something worth more, the few times I have had such things happen the items went for more than I thought they would. There is also a way to sell to him but I think it is at that price of the bid, I did that once on a cheap item I had for while that they really did want as a gift.

@orbras67, is the amount this guy bid the same amount as what you said was agreeable to you via messaging? Is this guy the current highbidder?
If so, end the auction and select "Sell to highest bidder." Send him an invoice and tell him to please remit payment. Once he's paid, ship out the item. You're done.

If the buyer was trying to take the sale off-eBay you should contact Customer Support and report the buyer. That is a policy violation.
Another thing to look out for is buyers who ask for your paypal address then follow up by sending phony payment e-mails, hoping you'll be naive enough to fall for it and ship.

Unless things have changed you would not have been able to add a BIN after a bid even if you cancel it. Cancelling/retracting bids can bring a BIN back, but you can't add one if the listing didn't already have one.
A lot of things are set in stone once you've had a bid. Even if you cancel it. For instance if you cancel an auction that had a bid you may be charged a FVF even if you cancel all the bids first.
