Hi, I recently sold an item. Buyer paid. While packing I noticed something about the item not in the description. I contacted buyer they were no longer interested in the item. No problem. Do I cancel or give refund? If cancelling which reason do I choose. Thanks

cancel

What reason do I use?

The correct reason would be out of stock.
That will ding your account.

Cancel. Canceling the order will automatically refund the buyer.
Reason: Out of stock or damaged.

You say in your post the buyer asked you to cancel as they were no longer interested. That is your reason.

When getting ready to ship, you, the seller, noticed something (possibly a flaw?) in the item that you had not mentioned in the description. You contacted the buyer and told them about it. The buyer stated he no longer wanted the item. Your reason would be that buyer canceled the order. Why do you ask if you would give a refund? Of course, if the buyer paid, that answer would be "yes, of course".

That works, but it is not the correct reason.
It is a weasel out procedure.
The seller does not have the item in the condition that it was listed.
Out of stock.
