If you think eBay fees are 30% it's probably one of four things.
1 - You are only calculating the fee rate on the item value instead of the item+shipping+tax value
2 - You buy shipping labels via eBay and are considering (incorrectly) that the shipping charges are an eBay fee (they are not)
3 - You are using promotions (which are voluntary) and you are using a high rate
4 - You are selling low value items where the fixed transaction fee of 30 (or 40) cents really increases the overall percentage
There is absolutely no point in contacting eBay about this, the fees are the fees, they are not going to reduce them just because you think they are too high.

There is no eBay final value fee that is that high. eBay's final value fee for sellers is calculated on the total of the item sold price, the shipping cost and the state sales tax, if applicable, plus a few other less than a buck fees. Plus "promotion" is more.
If you figure it at 30%, you are including some numbers in your calculations that aren't applicable.
Please return and show us the figures you used.

I would suggest give this community a try instead of Ebay direct. Have you read Ebay policy? Everything in relation to fees are in the policy. As others pointed out already you aren't being charged 30% fees (unless promotion). We need more information on the charges.

What skews thing to make you think the fees are higher is when the shipping is about the same or more than the item sells for since you are paying FVF on the shipping and tax as well. Can you show us the detail breakdown?

Ebay's fees are competitive with other high traffic internet marketplaces.
There are low cost or no cost alternatives with limited traffic and reach.

EBAY selling fees are charged on entire sale (purchase price + shipping + sales tax) plus 40 cent handling charge. There could be "extra fees" if you promoted your item.
Selling fees are the same for everyone, calling and complaining to EBAY customer service will not lower your costs. Below is weblink that shows EBAY fees for every category.

Unless you pay for an anchor store, it's a big secret, no number exists

Are you promoting?
Are you including the shipping you paid in that %?

Sellers calling just to complain is exactly the kind of reason I would make it hard to reach me, if I were eBay. 🙄

You are mistaken.
Unless you are choosing to do so, ebay's fees are not 30%.
Sellers really need to learn the difference between fees and expenses.

I call ebay all the time.
#1) To complain about the high fees.
#2) To complain that my sales are slow.

Yep, others have explained very well. You are good to go. Come back with a specific question that already has not been explained if needed.
Much, much, easier that contacting ebay.

Ebay fees of 30% of the amount the item sold for are not uncommon, if you sell a $10 item that has $10 shipping and 7% sales tax , the total to the buyer will be $21.40, ebay fees will $3.12 or 31.2% of what the item sold for.
Even if they took your call how fees are calculated will not change
