How did this happen?

Back in January, I had a potential buyer who made an offer. After checking her feedback left for others and seeing how scary it was, I blocked her.

There was no further contact and I'd forgotten about her until today

I received a message from a buyer telling me that she tried to make an offer but got an error message. After checking my emails, I realized I'd blocked her so I further checked my site preferences because I thought I'd set it so BBL members couldn't contact me.

And sure enough, this is from my settings. How was it possible for her to make contact? (Note that there isn't an existing transaction.)

Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me. (Buyer won't see the "Contact Seller" button on your Q&A page.) Note: Buyers can still contact you about existing transactions, unless you add them to your blocked list.

It's possible that eBay is using sloppy terminology. Perhaps they consider a past offer to be a "transaction" for contact purposes, even though it did not result in a sale.

That's happened to me, too.  I have no idea why, and I never wanted to make 20 calls before I got a few answers that matched.  Just ignore her.  Hopefully she won't get your phone number.  One got mine and it was a nightmare.

eBay doesn't want sellers being able to choose NOT to sell to any buyer.

Thanks. That's the only thing I can think of.  And since it was 4 months ago, it's not even the same item number (although it's the same item.)
