Hello, so I've recently sold a computer to someone that is now reselling it on ebay a few days after receiving it. You may ask, well what's the problem with that? The thing is, I know for a fact the chances of him making any kind of profit off reselling is slim to none which removes one of the potential incentives on reselling it. Another reason could be that he'll end up making a chargeback through his financial institution later to get his money back when buying the computer off me, along with making money by reselling it. This is me being skeptical, but I rather be safe than sorry. Is there any procedure that I can do which would protect me in case worse comes to worse and the individual ends up making a chargeback through his bank months later?
Thanks

Yeah, stop worrying about everything that has not happened, you'll live a happier life.
The only way we can prevent any kind of problems is you have to have the problem occur at least once, you might then be able to institute steps to prevent future occurrences but for things that have not happened?

eBay was once even counseling sellers when obtaining inventory to "check the return policy" at the store so that if an item they were trying to resell didn't sell, they could return it.
That piece of 'advice' in their 'blog' did not go over well.

The good news is that Ebay now apparently takes over the role of paypal handling disputes past 60 days if you get paid straight to your bank account. At least in this case they'll have all the listings as proof in case a problem ever arises. Hopefully nothing bad will come out of this.
I wouldn't honestly lay much confidence in who (be it paypal or eBay) is on the case. The reality is, the CC issuer is the one that makes the decision of who wins the case. NOT eBay or paypal. They aren't doing anything for you really. They just forward whatever info you send them, to the CC company. Then when you lose, they charge you $20 on top of the full refund, just to add insult to injury.
There is nothing you can do to avoid chargebacks, other than sell the item face to face, for cash in hand.

Maybe they sell at a lost for a tax offset against higher taxed businesses.

Yes, one extremely good thing about Managed Payments. PP can keep their nose out of the 180 day craziness return scenerio. Glad that is over with.
