Here's one that's strange AND creepy. See if you can figure out why:
A few years back I was selling a rare limited edition guitar for around $350. Some guy (who was local to me) looked at my listings and chose the cheapest item that I had (stuffed Furby) and then messaged me for my home address so he could buy it for his daughter and pick it up in person. I told him that I don't utilize local pickup and that I would ship it only. He proceeded to beg me, "Please, it's for my daughter and I need it now." I stood firm and he finally gave up.

I also had someone holler at me in all caps: "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE charging such and such price for a bracelet THAT IS NOT POLISHED? YOU SHOULD AT LEAST POLISH IT!!! Also, showing the bracelet on a ruler is good also."
First of all, in the twevle photos shown, there was a clear photo of the bracelet alongside a tape measure. Secondly, in my time spent searching listings on eBay for pricing purposes, I noticed that vintage sterling silver pieces were frequently offered as-is, unpolished.
I also read a guide that stated that serious collectors prefer the items this way. The bracelet in question was a mid-century or earlier "Old Pawn" piece so that's why I offered it as-is, in all it's tarnished glory. Of course, in the listing description I do offer to polish pieces upon requeset, before it ships. No one has ever taken me up on that offer.
Just curious: do other jewelry sellers here polish vintage or antique sterling silver items?
