haha, Had an offer on a $22 item on my husband store. Offer was 15, counted with 18. The buyer countered 15 again. Says I am only offering 15 because you have free shipping and item says not tested. ITs a train car. SO showed my husband. He tested it today, works fine. I updated listing as tested and working. Now $30.00 ..... lol. Someone bought it full price."

LOL! What on Earth did free shipping have to do with her offer, I can't get into some people's heads!

No, they didn't need to know that.

On a listing for an antique 1920's glass bead necklace: "I'd like to order an orange one, please."
I replied, "The item is about 100 years old. It's one-of-a-kind. I don't have any more."
She replied, "I really want an orange one. Do you know anyone who has an orange one?"
I said, "Just check Ebay."
She said, "I did. Maybe I can get one at Macy's. Do you know if they have them at Macy's?"
Me: "No, I'm pretty sure they don't carry antique jewelry."
Her: "Oh, it's antique? I didn't realize that."
(title of item: Antique 1920's Blue Faceted Glass Bead Necklace).

On an 8" x 10" photo: "Can you tell me how big this is?"

On a $20 item (a large, heavy vase that weighed over two pounds packaged): "Would you take a dollar, including shipping? That's all I have in my Paypal right now."
Me: "LOL!!!! Uh .... no."

Here's one that's strange AND creepy. See if you can figure out why:

A few years back I was selling a rare limited edition guitar for around $350. Some guy (who was local to me) looked at my listings and chose the cheapest item that I had (stuffed Furby) and then messaged me for my home address so he could buy it for his daughter and pick it up in person. I told him that I don't utilize local pickup and that I would ship it only. He proceeded to beg me, "Please, it's for my daughter and I need it now." I stood firm and he finally gave up.

I also had someone holler at me in all caps: "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE charging such and such price for a bracelet THAT IS NOT POLISHED? YOU SHOULD AT LEAST POLISH IT!!! Also, showing the bracelet on a ruler is good also."

First of all, in the twevle photos shown, there was a clear photo of the bracelet alongside a tape measure. Secondly, in my time spent searching listings on eBay for pricing purposes, I noticed that vintage sterling silver pieces were frequently offered as-is, unpolished.

I also read a guide that stated that serious collectors prefer the items this way. The bracelet in question was a mid-century or earlier "Old Pawn" piece so that's why I offered it as-is, in all it's tarnished glory. Of course, in the listing description I do offer to polish pieces upon requeset, before it ships. No one has ever taken me up on that offer.

Just curious: do other jewelry sellers here polish vintage or antique sterling silver items?
