How Long Does the Verification of Tax ID Take?

Hello everyone! I am wondering if anyone recently has had to "verify" their tax ID due to the IRS 1099-K and how long did the verification process take? They are not allowing any payouts until I verify my tax ID, which I did 8 hours ago. I received a message saying, "let's get you paid" and as soon as I verify my ID my payouts will be released but no scheduled payouts yet. I have printed out all labels and should have a scheduled payout by now. Does anyone have any information for me? Thank you!

Are you absolutely positive that that eBay came from eBay?

I've never received anything from eBay that you have described.

Please provide a copy, so that we can examine it -- you may have just been scammed!

Did the message call you by name?

Scammers try to trick you into confirming your SSN to steal your identity.

I had this big red tag on our selling page of the app today saying "we can not confirm your information we need you to re-submit ss# or tax ID # so we can get you paid!

The weekly payout went through fine this morning?.. seems kinda odd.

I've gotten a message like that from Ebay.  It was months ago, so I don't have it anymore to see if it read the same way, but it was totally legit.   I mean definitely check to make sure it has your full name, but Ebay absolutely DOES send these out. 

I also had what @anjofak  had for about 9 months.  I called 4x & they finally decided it was my EIN number they couldn't match correctly.   Everything was still fine, got my weekly payouts fine.  Then suddenly after about a year of that red bold message, they decided I couldn't get my payouts anymore.   I had already updated it probably 20x by then, but nothing would get rid of the message.  I did it again when they stopped my payouts, waited a week, no luck.   Then tried again, but used my SSN instead of my EIN number & the red error disappeared the next day & I started getting payouts again.  

Very annoying cuz the whole reason I got an EIN was to not give them an SSN, but it fixed everything.  Oh & I'm not a new seller, been selling since 97 😞   This all went down months ago & it's been fine ever since.

Thank you for the ones who responded. Yes, it was legit and now I have a scheduled payout, checked first thing this morning. Took almost 24 hours so, now I know. Double checked the message and it was straight from eBay for those who question if you have not received the verification message yet. Also, if you are still worried that it is a scammer, check your payouts and if they are on hold at the same time then it is eBay needing the verification.
