How Long Does It Take for eBay to Re-Index Active Listings?

Opened another (non-store) account about a week ago with the intention of testing the waters on a new product line.  Didn't have time to post any items until this morning.

None of the three items posted are showing up in search and when I do an "Advanced" search to look for items posted by Seller ID, it says that Seller ID has no listings.   It's been about 2 hrs since the items were posted.   Anyone know how long it usually takes for eBay to re-index and pick up new listings?  Just wondering if there's yet another "glitch" causing a problem or it just takes forever these days.

On the flip side, for some mysterious reason I was given a coupon good for $15 off any item listed at $25 or more.  Coupon says it's "By Invitation Only" and can't be shared or transferred and is only good until midnight tonight PT.

I feel like saying:  "Well, start showing my listings and get me a couple of sales and I'd be glad to spend some money!"  But, will look through my "Watch" list on my other account and see if there's anything worth nabbing while I sit vigil...  🙂

It depens on how busy the system is.  It can take longer during high volume times such as beginning of month when the free listings come out.

After you create a listing, it should show up in eBay searches within 24 hours. If you're having trouble finding it, there's a few things you can do.

If your listing is active, and more than 24 hours have passed since you completed it, check carefully for typos or errors that might make it unsearchable. Here are some quick checks you can do:

  • Make sure you didn't misspell anything or run two words together in the item's title
  • Look for any typos that have accidentally created profanity in your listing –  search will block a listing if it spots profanity
  • Remove any special characters (! @ / *) from the title
  • See if you've created a duplicate listing. If you have, you'll find a note in the Selling section of My eBay or Seller Hub explaining that your listing won't be available until you've received at least one bid on the identical active listing.

For others wondering, it took about 20 hours for my initial three listings to show up in search.  Added two more this morning.  Will see if they also take a day to become visible which hasn't been the case with my established store.

Thanks to all who responded!

Further update.   When I added two more listings this morning, it only took approximately 12 hours for those to show up in search so it appears subsequent listings take less time to index on a new selling account than those that are listed when the account is launched...
