Hello
I am brand new to selling on EBay, and just sold a cell phone today. However, I cannot see any payment pending in my PP account, and I am not actually sure I got paid (even though the buyer marked payment sent). The buyer told me that once I ship and email PP the tracking and receipt as proff, the money will be cleared and transferred into my account. Is this accurate? Any help/feedback from experienced sellers is appreciated. Anywhere I can look on the Ebay page to know whether the funds were sent?
Rich

Hi Mr C...
I'm older than dirt, so having 2 screens open is foreign to me...2 beer cans on the other hand...
Anywho...I agree with you on ebay's culpability re new sellers getting reamed.
When they sign up, they should be directed to a page in 24pt font that says "DO NOT SHIP UNTIL..."...and they have to check off that they've read the instruction BEFORE they're allowed to list.
Like everything else ebay could and should do...HOW HARD IS THAT???
hmmm, I'm not quite old as dirt, but I'm getting there lol and right now I have 13 windows open
If you have not been paid, and use Ebay labels to ship, there is a blurb up top in orange or red that clearly states that payment has not been made and not to ship, so unless one is blind there really is no excuse.
I don't use Ebay shipping, I use stamps.com. When I get a sale, I log directly in to Paypal (the website, not the app) and get my shipping info there.

Just wanted to add this in...while I do think you have a scammer on your hands, you should also make sure you entered your paypal address on the listing correctly--just open the sold listing and click "sell similar" and then scroll to the payments section.
Also, please DO NOT cancel. You cannot cancel without damaging your account. The correct way to handle this is to file an unpaid item case.
Welcome to ebay 🙂

NO. What you are reading is the standard script of a common scam. Your "buyer" has not actually paid anything, nor has he sent payment; he just clicked an optional icon on his payment screen for cases where someone was mailing a check or money order (in the old days).
While there has been a lot of useful discussion here about how to verify that you have been paid, the main point here is that you are hearing from a scammer, and that is not how normal payments work. You will be able to see the money in your account before shipping, even if PayPal has put a temporary hold on it.

As other have said, log into PayPal and check.

Thanks very much. This info. is very useful. I wish I had been more aware before listing, but at least I didn't ship it out without the payment. Something seemed off, and I'm glad I followed my gut and reached out to the community

What confuses me is how someone like this can get 100% positive ratings. I suppose that can be rigged too?
