August and September were great! I sold a lot of big items, plenty of small items while returns and abuse were low.
October has been AWFUL! For three weeks now sales have been in the toilet again. I have heard a couple youtubers mention the same. One of them blamed it on the fall update / listing tool rollout. Its no secret that when they change the matrix sales are die. Normally that means all sales die. I seem to be experiencing something different this time. Im still getting sales at about half the rate of normal BUT I am not selling anything over $50.
Returns also went way up. Less abusers, the users are being honest selecting the reasons for the most part but certainly more than average. Why is it that when sales are down is when entitled jerks go up? “Just didn’t like it” “found better price” and “didn’t fit” are all disgusting entitled return reasons that shouldn’t exist on items you had someone ship to you. Service rendered to you on the bill of another, GROSS! “Doesn’t fit” has no place outside of clothing. Take a second hand item back to a B&M second hand store for a return and you will get laughed at. I don’t see why ebay should be any different.
I hope it comes back soon. Have you had a slow three weeks?
I don’t have and won’t have a death pile. I won’t source much until they get done screwing up another update and launching features that don’t work. I am going to work on something else.
ebay could have been Amazon. Amazon never has issues like this. Amazon saw that they needed to invest in infrastructure to facilitate a flawless site and user experience. Now they have so much infrastructure they host a huge part of everything. Amazon servers might even host part of ebay, certainly wouldn’t surprise me. Ebay should have done that first. Now all these years later they STILL won’t invest in the technology to update the platform without killing it.
Every time I come here to B & moan about slow sales my sales come back. Hopefully that happens again.
