Just received another purchase that was sprayed with Febreze! I can’t stand the smell of it and I can’t use anything that’s been sprayed with fragrance. I have lots of allergies. I almost don’t want to order from eBay anymore because they are spraying items with it. Please sellers remember that some of us have allergies and please do not spray your merchandise!

You might want to stay away from clothing and soft goods. It may not have been sprayed but laundered with Febreze scented detergent. At least it's clean. Like drinking water in Asia. You go for the brown stuff, it's tea and you know it's been boiled, the clear water is dangerous.

How would a seller know you have allergies?
If it's a clothing item wash it..If it's not a clothing item place it out side the scent will dissipate.
Personally I perfer it when I receive items that were cleaned prior to shipping.... much better than a BO smell or musty odor.

Ask the seller first. That would resolve the problem. I agree that smell is horrible. Then if you receive something scented, you can open a return. Ask questions first.

Some of that smell you cannot get out of clothing.

I would email the seller first before bidding. What smells great to someone is awful to others or can trigger an allergy. I don't like scents on anything. I would let them know that you are allergic to all scents. I would definitely any clothing bought here.

It's actually in the eBay policy for preowned clothing that items have to be laundered and it has to be stated in the listing. Hardly any preowned clothing listings say the item was cleaned. I've never seen that policy enforced, but it exists.

Yuck! I detest that smell too. A couple of years ago, I bought a sweater that the seller had listed as being new - not like new and not used. So, having never had a problem before, I bought it without a thought. It arrived reeking of that perfume that would NOT launder out no matter how I tried. I got a full refund. But, not before the seller sassed at me for complaining. Now, I always ask before buying clothing. Notice how no one here is saying that they like that smell?

Agreed....but it is not just an ebay problem...
(unfortunately)

That’s true except it was a new item. If it were used I could understand that but I was purchasing pantyhose, so I hope they weren’t used. I wouldn’t want to discover that with underwear either since you hope they are a new item as stated.

Dear buyer,
Please return your item for full refund.

You are not buying from ebay. You are buying from an individual seller.

I know someone who has a reaction to food that has been wrapped in tinfoil.
She does not tell every person who knows and every restaurant she visits and every cafeteria she eats in to not use tinfoil.
She realizes that the burden is on her to ASK before she purchases.

This is true! All my listings State that they have been cleaned per policy. Better to put it in the title than risk a violation.

I like the smell.

I would strongly suggest that you mention this before purchasing. It is pretty bad selling habit to spray items with febreze. I have been selling for years and have never done that. If you mention it before ordering surely that would help you out.
